2026 World Cup Illness Tracking Thread

With the big world cup starting I think it would be a good Idea
that we give the World cup a dedicated tracking thread for any
illness that pops up weather it be from players or virus
outbreaks at the events. Similar to how we tracked the Olympics.
This will be a locked thread that I will manage the best I can.
The Hope is things will not get bad but I got a feeling this is
going to get busy as time goes on.

       COMMENT:
...and this must be why they call it the World Cup... only one
cup of water for each member of world is allowed!
Fans are allowed to bring in one 20 ounce plastic water bottle
       .. and that's it..lol.. They aren't allowed to bring in a
reusable water cup because of safety concerns ..
...That's crazy! There's 30,000 people in the extremes of summer
heat there and security is afraid of an empty cup that's kind of
hardcore !? This sounds like prison I guess the bathrooms won''t
be used as much ..what's next are belts and shoelaces allowed?
.. dehydration is violent if you ask me.. I can't stand being
thirsty. I'd drink 20 ounces of water in one big swig every
hour! I chug down 20 ounces of water in the summer like it was
nothin! I drank about 10 cups of water before checking the mail
today in the heat and then came inside drenching with sweat
today...There's no way I could not comfortably survive this
event! There's no way I'd feel safe without plenty of water at
hand..It sounds like everybody is expecting violence to erupt as
well.. not my idea of a good time. I'm surprised violent riots
over water didn't occur with fans..I'm surprised more people
didn't drop dead from dehydration and heat exhaustion ..
If its not safe or allowed to bring water to an event of this
proportion then you really ought to rethink this gathering..
evidently there was a complete ban on bringing in water ..
Check out world's one cup water policy:
"For the 2026 World Cup, fans attending matches in the US and
Canada are permitted to bring one factory-sealed, soft plastic,
disposable water bottle of up to 20 ounces (590 ml). Hard-sided
or reusable water bottles are strictly prohibited to ensure
player and attendee safety, and no outside liquids can be
       brought in"
With 14 of the 16 host stadiums posing concerning heat and
humidity levels, fierce backlash prompted FIFA to reverse a
total water ban and allow sealed plastic bottles
Hard-sided and reusable bottles are banned because they can be
used as projectiles or thrown onto the pitch, posing safety and
       security concerns.
Important exceptions & guidelines:Medical Needs: Fans requiring
liquids for medical reasons are permitted, but bottles must not
exceed 500 ml (16.9 ounces) and must be accompanied by a medical
certificate (written in English, French, or Spanish). The person
the liquid is intended for must also be present.
       Baby Milk:
Baby milk and sterilized water in containers are allowed up to 1
       liter (33.8 ounces) per child.
Mexico Venues: While this policy has been explicitly confirmed
for US and Canada venues, fans have expressed confusion over
whether the exact same allowance will be permitted at matches in
       Mexico."
       Check out reality's policy:
       it is recommended:
For 80-degree weather, experts recommend a baseline of 68 to 100
ounces (about 2 to 3 liters) per day. However, if you are
active, exercising, or working outdoors in this heat, you should
aim to drink 8 ounces every 15 to 20 minutes
.. Apparently I am somewhat more active than most people and I
drink much more water than the average person. One 20 ounce
bottle of water on a hot summer day far away from home is like
an insult to this old big boy .. totally inhumane. when a
faction is telling people to restrict their water intake and
limit there water supply during a heatwave, What does this say
about the intelligence of fans who attend an event that is
       hosting a crowd of 30,000!?
Because of all this lack of common sense during gatherings,
pandemics, and extremes in temperatures, my trust in society's
ability to take care of themselves properly and protect
themselves is zip. Stop being victims people. Learn how to drink
water & learn some self defense like how to mask and how to
watch out for yourselves, It's pretty bad when you have to teach
people how to stand up for themselves and teach them how to
drink enough water in the middle of a heat wave,
Check the Color of your urine geniuses: Your urine should
ideally be a pale yellow.Signs of Dehydration: Be on the lookout
for a dry mouth, sudden fatigue, dizziness, or dark,
       honey-colored urine,
Dehydration can seriously mess with your kidneys.. you can do
long term damage to kidneys big time by engaging in repeated
dehydration sessions trying to compete and keep up with others
       going without drinking water,
Wise up and stay hydrated at least for your kidneys,
       The Masked Man
       P.S. A 200-pound man needs a baseline of about 100 to 134 ounces
of water daily. When outside in 90°F heat, this requirement
significantly increases. If you are moderately active (such as
working or hiking), you should drink 24 to 32 ounces (about 1 to
2 standard water bottles) per hour...
..keep in mind originally FIFA initially issued a total ban on
all personal water bottles for the 2026 World Cup, but quickly
reversed it following severe backlash from fans and politicians
regarding extreme summer heat cups Fans are allowed to bring in
one 20 ounce plastic water bottle. But even that 20 ounce seems
far from prudent to me... That's insane even if the host is
selling papercups full of water. Its insane not to carry a full
days water with you when you outside climbing up and down the
grandstand.. Its hot, you are carrying stuff around .. you might
not be able to find your car in the parking lot right away..
there might be an emergency or delay for hours at an event that
hosts 30,000 other people. It just ain't right in the head to
restrict your water intake and not be allowed to carry a canteen
or giant thermos of water around in this big old rough world.
UPDATE: Evidently there were delays that only added to the
       water/dehydration/heatstroke issues:
Fans describe security delays at Houston FIFA World Cup opener
Some alleged guests were passing out in the heat.
