Teen ‘takeovers’ push cities to take action as experts see
echoes of the Covid pandemic

Teens who have been clashing with cops went into lockdown during
their middle school years, when they were learning how to
interact with the world around them.
The mayhem over Memorial Day weekend in Chicago erupted without
warning.
On Sunday, hundreds of teenagers descended on a housing project
on the West Side. Five Chicago officers trying to disperse the
crowd sustained minor injuries when they were hit by a car.
On Monday, hundreds more teenagers showed up at a beach on the
South Side, and clashes erupted when police tried to get them to
leave, resulting in 53 arrests and nine weapons’ being
confiscated, WGN-TV reported.
Both were examples of a phenomenon that has been sweeping the
country for months, which frustrated law enforcement officials
call teen takeovers.

COMMENT: Oh I hate this stuff ..nine weapons!? ..happens with
all sorts of crowds.. had near similar experience in small town
with after football game parties where hundred cars show up at
one house.. fortunately local sherif put an end to it . Scary as
crap when inebriated people start walking through your yard and
hundreds of cars start pulling in and to your driveway and
people with beer bottles in their hands are walking your street!
I can't help but think of how political upheaval ..social
strife, disease , illness and wars all seem to coincide with bad
behavior and all seem to erupt at same time. Sick animals are
dangerous animals in my opinion and I can't help but think that
illnesses and viruses are having a field day when things like
what happen on Memorial Day in this article occur.
'Lockdown' and covid are mentioned in this article. I'm not sure
I agree with what they say but its interesting they refer to
lockdown and covid somehow contributing to this behavior.
I am but a layperson on the matter but I am skeptical of those
that think masking and pandemic precautions are stressful
compared to the stress and impact of catching an illness and a
disease. I speculate that while the stress of lock down during
an outbreak could play a role in bad behavior I think it is far
more likely the stress of 'long covid' could actually lead to
bad behavior and learning problems in youth. People who don't
feel good or ill tend to make poor choices, turn to substances
that help numb their pain, I just tend to think being ill or
having had covid or having long covid has more to do with bad
behavior and learning disabilities in children than merely
staying home and taking precautions to avoid illnesses.. we do
know children who have caught covid do far worse than those that
don't catch covid from many studies.
For me, masking and taking precautions reduces my stress
infinitely compared to what my stress would be from having to
deal with the possible long term repercussions of having caught
a disease that could reduce my life.
Catching an illness or disease that could reduce my life or
reduce my comfort in life would be far more stressful for me
than wearing a mask,
