A new Ebola outbreak has already killed 87 people in Democratic
Republic of Congo May 16, 2026
Kaseya said he didn't know what type of protective gear those
who had come in contact with the man had used to avoid
contracting the virus. "We don't have manufacturing for PPE," he
said, adding that his team tells him funds are needed and they
are working on solving the problem.
It is not yet clear how fast the virus is spreading, officials
said. There have been two previous outbreaks of this strain of
the virus, called Bundibugyo, but because it is less common than
the Zaire strain of Ebola, it is less well understood and there
is no known vaccine.

At least 6 Americans in Congo were exposed to Ebola virus,
sources say
May 17, 2026
"The health agency has issued travel advisories for Americans
traveling in Congo and Uganda, telling them to "practice
enhanced precautions" and avoid people who have symptoms, which
include fever, muscle pain and rash. Other symptoms are
headache, vomiting, severe weakness, abdominal pain, nosebleeds
and vomiting blood, according to the CDC..."
..."The latest Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo's Ituri province
is the 17th Ebola outbreak in the country since 1976. One of the
worst outbreaks killed more than 11,000 people between 2014 and
2016..."

NOTE:
"The vaccine was developed during the West Africa Ebola epidemic
of 2014-2016, during which more than 11 000 people lost their
lives to the disease. The vaccine was tested in European and
African countries at the time and was used under an “expanded
access” protocol in the Democratic Republic of Congo...
...There is currently no vaccine available for the current
strain, known as Bundibugyo, which is considered highly lethal,
the country's health minister Samuel-Roger Kamba told a press
briefing in Kinshasa."

This outbreak is quickly becoming concerning. I will leave it in
this section for now however if it grows and becomes bigger I
will move it to the 2026 tracking threads. I def did not have
tracking an Ebola outbreak and hantavirus outbreak at the same
time on my 2026 bingo card but here we are.

COMMENT (To be further researched):
I read from a concerned doctor that the screenings aren't that
effective. While they might help a little the screenings simply
check for fever and so the doctor said fever doesn't necessary
show up until several days after they already have the virus. On
top of that the doctor said people just take fever reducer
medicine the day they have that fever while traveling anyway
making the fever screening at airports virtually useless. This
doctor had major concerns about the World Cup activities and
travel as well.
May the reader please feel free to substantiate or refute the
aforementioned statements by posting more studies on this but
that's what I read one doctor say about the limitations of
airport screenings for what it is worth. Correct this if my
findings or the doctors are way off on this subject.
From what I have read all airport screenings do is
take people's temperature using non-contact thermometers.. How's
that going to detect symptoms that show up 2 to 21 days later? I
guess checking people's temperatures is better than nothing.
Furthermore will A TSA officer wear a face mask and will
passengers be masked? I can't find anything online to indicate
if anybody is going to mask or not.
"Symptoms of the Ebola virus show up 2 to 21 days after someone
is infected."
CDC says
"Travelers should monitor for Ebola symptoms for 21 days after
leaving affected countries." (if that's the case then whoever is
sick probably infected whoever was on the plane..its kind of
stupid in my opinion not to mask during the plane ride and just
monitor whether the plane ride made you sick later so you can
tell people at a later date.. that's not really going do
anything to prevent people getting sick on the plane. Don't just
monitor whether a plane ride with other maskless travelers makes
you sick or not.. wear a mask to prevent airborne illness and
airborne disease when you go airborne!)
Correct me if I am wrong but checking for a fever just doesn't
cut it... checking for fever simply indicates if someone is sick
that very moment.. checking for a fever just means whoever was
just in contact with that person might get sick too and does
nothing like a mask does to prevent actual exposure. I'm
interested in what airports are doing to actually prevent
exposure in their planes and jets.. how do they prevent
passengers from exposing one another during the plane ride
itself and in their lobbies and waiting rooms?
From the perspective of a person who has been masking to prevent
airbone illness and airborne diseases since 2020 I dare say I am
totally ready for this thing. Perhaps I am being narcissistic
but I am masked so I am prepared either way to protect myself
and loved one by masking publically,
Have a great day,
The Masked Man

May 23, 2026
The very first case of Ebola virus disease was confirmed
positive on Thursday, May 21, 2026 in the province of South

territory of Kabare, according to the communications officer at
the provincial health division, Dr. Claude Bahizire.
The confirmed case, a 28-year-old man, died from the disease.
It is believed that this positive case originated in the
province of Kisangani.
Health authorities emphasize that more than 200 samples have
been collected and sent to the INRB Goma.
