Olympic COVID restrictions are gone, but some athletes are still
self-quarantining
February 9, 2026
Some athletes are taking extreme measures to stay healthy.
"When members of the U.S. women's cross-country ski team walked
into a news conference in a packed room at the start of the
Olympics, each of them wore a mask. Jessie Diggins, the team's
top athlete, said the same rules apply if she's inside with her
husband, who's staying not with Diggins at the Olympics, but
with family....
in China, a positive coronavirus test could put athletes in an
isolation hotel...
Things aren't that serious this time around. But athletes in
cross-country skiing are among the most susceptible to
respiratory viruses, and many are being extra cautious to stay
healthy during the most important competitions of their lives.
Not only are many skiers and coaches wearing masks indoors, but
America's cross-country team, and some from Scandinavia, have
dispensed with the Olympic Village altogether and are renting
out their own hotels, where they can avoid busy cafeterias and
control who comes in and out...."

COMMENT: BRAVO!
Olympians taking safety matters into their own hands! True
Winners! True Olympians in my opinion. Refreshing to see
athletes who are playing it more safer and taking charge of
protecting themselves and loved ones! Thinking ahead of the
game!
At the same time just the mere statement(maybe the reporter got
this wrong about Olympics not having a policy in regards to
covid?): "Olympic COVID restrictions are gone" as it just seems
crazy, downright disgusting, irresponsible, masochistic &
bizarre to not try to. restrict a disease and have no rules, no
backup plans, or policy in place to prevent covid & long covid
from spreading! Talk about a lack of a code of ethics and lack
of duty towards society as a whole. It's just lowdown and a lack
of love towards everybody to not have any rules in place about
covid and diseases if you are holding a mass gathering.

More so called prepping and anticipation for diseases in the
international sporting nworld...
The World Cup is the perfect place for disease to spread. Kansas
health workers are preparing
"The influx of people could mean a greater chance of disease
spreading. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment will
have training, reporting and testing information for diseases
and travel health notices.
A projected 650,000 people will visit the Kansas City region for
the World Cup this year, and with that comes the risk of disease
spreading and health care demands.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is helping
physicians and public health officials prepare. KDHE recently
launched a website with resources aimed at identifying and
combating the spread of infectious diseases."

COMMENT: no masking is mentioned in the article ..wonder how
much the health department gets paid to advise people to cover
up their coughing and sneezing and keep washing those hands and
watch what you eat?! I agree with the part that says "The World
Cup is the perfect place for disease to spread". It says "
Kansas Department of Health and Environment is helping
physicians and public health officials prepare" ... To one who
masks, it is an insult to the intelligence for no masking to be
suggested... its hard to take a department of health and
Environment very serious to me the Masked Man. Anybody serious
about "combating the spread of infectious diseases" should
definitely wear a mask.
Ive heard that masking can greatly reduce airborne illness and
airborne disease..someone needs to educate the health department
that!
People, You have the option to Wear a Mask to protect your
health,
Personally, I'd take the liberty to wear a mask if I were in the
health department or anybody for that matter. The mask is
perfect for what they deem to be "the perfect place for disease
to spread".
Seriously if you are going to (in the health department's very
words) "the perfect place for disease to spread", then don't be
caught with your mask down!,
The Masked Man
P.S.
It's not just an opinion or personal view that masks help
prevent airborne illness and diseases, the high success rate of
the mask is actually a well documented scientifically
established proof held by many esteemed scientists , doctors and
health experts.
