Re: PUBLIC STUDY Whether Dr. Edmisten and Hospital Staff will
MASK or not & Treat Immunocompromised Patients Differently

Update: Masked Woman is already doing better from Gall Bladder
Surgery at home.
Now I just mask around her. That was pretty traumatic for me..I
managed. Got everybody that worked with her directly to mask so
far as I know they took masking seriously for me. Its so busy
even with our masking and the nurses woking with us wearing
masks that it is scary. Its. lot of hands on and Those were just
curtains separating us from scores of other beds right next to
us ..everybody getting into hospital gowns.. clothes falling on
floor...lot of older people you can't determine what combination
of ailments or symptoms are going around tons of hands on ..
multiple staff doing five things at once .. mostly maskless
accept for those in our area. There's not just airborne
contamination there's bathroom sharing and surface contamination
and patients barely awake coming off drugs fumbling to get
their clothes back on and everybody trying to help one another.
Its just too easy for viruses.. then you got the waiting room
where visitors are all maskless who are going into those pre
surgery curtained areas.
Its the countless little things one takes for granted...You know
Ive got a bog and a tote bag inside of the bag with all her
clothes and stuff... I've been sitting on a coat that's on a
chair that's been in the waiting room for hours and now she
wants her coat on because she's cold so I'm shooting and
spraying her coat with my rubbing alcohol trying to disinfect it
and hoping her mask protects her from waiting room germs that
could be in the coat I'm disinfecting.. then I'm helping her get
her clothes on and go to the bathroom and spraying toilette seat
with rubbing alcohol with one hand keeping her from falling with
other and then its my turn to go bathroom too.. so we are masked
juggling cleaning stuff while she is coming off drugs .. we got
masks on and nobody else does that have been in those areas all
doing what we were only we had masks on and they didn't.. see I
can't imagine people not getting sick especially the
maskless...besides they are clumsy coming off anesthesiologist's
drugs..lol.. its just a recipe for sharing germs in things and
areas everybody is sharing.
... People are only human and while being super nice to one
another its way too easy combination of events and people for
airborne illnesses and spreading to occur. nobody wants to admit
any of that because they are focused on being good to one
another and on big surgeries but its just easy prey for virus
outbreaks.
I have to add if I hadn't been there there would be more
complacency in regards to masking and probably no masking and my
loved one would have just gone along with whatever.. I was her
spokesperson and from what I could tell they masked for us and
they got her mask back on her after surgery for me. I saw none
of this happening for other patients or other staff nursing
accept a few rare occasions with one or two masked nurses
retrieving maskless visitors in waiting room and one or two
masked people (one that was coughing a little under mask) in the
waiting room. Of course there was me and I was masked the whole
time.. no problem for me ..I am the Masked Man! ;)
So she's recovering great.. I mask when in room around her and
maybe all that masking precautions that were requested of me
amongst the people that worked with her directly pays off. I
really think the anesthesiologist whom I made mask for us
listened to my concerns about old age causing a decline in
immune system... I told him about white T cells and mentioned
there are two other factorsd lack of immunity in seniors and I
told him how we both masked for this surgery to make it a
success.. I told him I considered her to be immunocompromised
and I think the anesthesiologist listed her as that and put a
sign on the curtain for people to mask because there was nobody
masking around the other patients ...I still can't know what
precautions didn't occur during surgery but she was the only one
with masked nurses around her when I was there.. its scary man.
so far she is doing great and understands I'l be masking this
week and probably next just because I have to stay strong!
The Masked Man
P.S. I tell ya this isn't easy. Most of come into this world via
hospital. There's gonna be more to come..more tests and
screening for other stuff. I was humbled by what other
procedures and what everybody was going through.. a woman on a
phone telling loved ones about her loved one getting cancer and
all the stuff they don't know yet... its very humbling
experience and everybody was really good there and the staff and
nurses and doctors were really like angels to everybody. I am
scared for those not masking and at same time trying to
understand and am in awe and respect for all those around me...
This is tough world. Its humbling experience knowing hospitals
are really like where the true heroes are and the frontlines are
at the same time..I'm just pondering I imagine hospitals mean
different things to different people at different times.. truly
inspiring places of hope and human love on all different levels
..everybody is different and special . I have to say there is
beauty in the hospital and in its people... People are dealing
with heavy stuff and at all different levels dealing with it in
every which way... not always easy but at same time it is place
of love and caring. I can't dismiss all the beauty in all the
people there. I have to say people showed a lot of heart if not
all their heart there. To witness people who want to heal or
ease human suffering and help or just make a difference in
people's lives is always a beautiful thing I know I always need.

Update: it is now 2nd day after surgery
Masked Woman recovering quite well!
Slight sore throat this morning for her... probably due to
allergies.. Very very common for her.. nevertheless I'm masked
around her and the rooms she is frequenting.. I'll keep you
posted.. most likely it is not a respiratory illness picked up
during hospital stay/surgery visit ..most likely her slightly
sore throat will pass as it usually does.. she's drinking tea.
Nevertheless I am masked around her.
..no problem masking for me. I am used to my rhobust respirator
type mask and so inside I use the typical lightweight N95 masks
with an exhale valve.
I feel safe...
just a masking side story : So we masked at hospital and getting
all the attendants at hospital to mask for loved one at the
hospital prior, during and after surgery.. well the very next
morning I had to deal with a giant excavator tractor and a
construction guy in my shared driveway about to alter size of a
driveway culvert. Ive had to stop this construction because I
have had a history of a neighbor doing stuff that isn't in my
best interest. We own both sides of a creek bank and if I let
these guys do what they want they will put in oversized pipe and
cut away 2 three feet of the creek bank and I will actually lose
land and height of bank which protected house during floods. To
make a long day and story short .. I go out there in my mask
argue they aren't altering the side of the creek bank .. I own
the property and they aren't touching the creek bank where I'm
standing.
They threaten to call law on me ..I retort back "go ahead call
law and I inquire which sheriff!?" Then I come out with my ax
and flip it around because the back side of the ax is like a
sledgehammer and proceed to split the giant oversized rocks next
to the culvert on half... "I holler I'm working here right now
and these rocks need to be 3-5" so I'm gonna cut them down to
size!!! I split about four giant rocks in half!" . Then they
acted like they are calling the law with their cell phones
standing in the field.. Then delivery man comes so I go and get
my packages and bring them back around behind my house with my
wheelbarrow as usual. My neighbor and his construction guy
standing over the culvert again so I hide my ax thinking the law
is coming and walk over to the neighbor and construction guy and
neighbor says" you are right" we will leave everything the same
as you wish' and simply throw gravel on shared drive" I thank
him and remind him I survived a hurricane and flood just barely
and both our homes almost got destroyed and so I want to leave
the banks of the creek exactly as they are. Don't alter creek
bank side after surviving hurricane flood.. cut your loses keep
everything same for next flood since our homes were safe.
Neighbor agreed this time around.
...So there ya go I wore my mask for hospital to prevent
airborne illness and airborne disease, wearing mask around loved
one just incase she gets sick I don't wanna get sick, and I did
the same around creepy neighbor and construction worker because
they are too close for comfort and wind up wanting to shake my
hand and I in my mask stayed healthy and fit and split boulders
in half with my ax ..mask on the whole time so I am safe!!! :) I
wan't put here on this earth to necessarily fit in society or be
a people pleasure and get screwed by a disease or some runny
nosed kid or a dirty hired hand ..I wear my mask because I rule
my den! I wear my mask because it makes me more impervious to
disease and illness which will weaken me.. I wear the mask
because I'm healthy enough and wanna maintain what I have so
that I may serve and protect my loved one and what I got.. I
wear the mask because I'm the boss, the ruler of my own castle,
& I'm tough and I'm gonna stay tough!
The Masked Man
P.S. ..another update Its been a few hours I did some chores
outside in my respirator mask taking trash out cutting open some
bulk goods shipments from delivery (I always retrieve boxes
masked in a jcomfty jumpsuit I leave next to laundry room out
backwith my wheelbarrow cut open dirty shipment boxes outside to
discard .. got some more canned goods... again oyster crackers
for our soup .. Masked woman's throat doesn't hurt whatsoever
anymore... she's dozing in the living room chair.. Now I think
I'll drink a big glass of water throw on some fresh clothes
stick one of these typical n95 masks on with a little exhale
valve and sit back in easy chair nap and watch tv with Masked
woman who is doing quite well. We will do some slow dancing
later next to tv because doctor says its important she do stay
somewhat active to keep circulation going! This is not
whatsoever at all difficult or uncomfortable to mask around
loved on in same house. I thought it might be tough but its
really easy with using the lightweight n95 masks indoors when
I'm around my loved one and in the rooms she frequents . This is
a piece of cake!

Update: March 5th
Its hard to believe just three days ago on March 2nd my loved
one was under anesthesia having gall bladder surgery. She is
doing oh so well! I remind myself its only been three days... so
I write everything down .. gotta remain true to science and
continue my masking around her and in the rooms she frequents so
I simply can remain strong and illness free myself so I may
continue to serve and protect.. typically if she was to develop
any symptoms of most airborne illnesses or airborne diseases it
would most likely be 3-5 days after initial infection...
however ...time varies depending on the virus or bacterium...
"for many common airborne illnesses. While the specific time
varies depending on the virus or bacterium,
a 3–5 day window is a typical, average incubation period for
many respiratory infections.
COVID-19: Symptoms typically appear 2 to 14 days after exposure,
but with newer variants (like Omicron), the incubation period is
often shorter, typically 3 to 4 days.
Influenza (Flu): Symptoms usually appear 1 to 4 days after
exposure, with 2 days being the most common timeframe.
Common Cold: Symptoms often begin 1 to 3 days after exposure.
RSV: Symptoms usually appear about 4 to 6 days after exposure."
...Its all about masking and staying safe for that insidious
incubation period.
The kicker here is that covid man! "Symptoms typically appear 2
to 14 days after exposure" While 14 days is rare "If you have
been exposed to COVID-19, it is recommended to monitor for
symptoms during this 14-day window.
To remind myself of the reality of time Here attached is March 2
2026 my loved in hospital bed just coming off of anesthesia in a
very busy hospital after gall bladder surgery ... and here's me
comfortable enough masking around her at home March 4rth,
2026...
...I'm gonna keep masking to stay safe and to stay strong! I'm
masking accordingly to the scientific data that exists about
incubation period. I am somewhat of a man of science and know
that the only thing that separates me from falling prey to a
possible covid infection is my mask. I wouldn't be able to care
for my loved one as well if by some chance she was exposed and
infected with covid.Even if this is unintential or unlikely she
got infected by a virus in the hospital settings and areas we
follow science and play it safe by not taking chances
whatsoever..
....its about the nature of viruses and how science works that
we obey.. we obey laws of science not wishful thinking.. . We
hope for the best.. but we defend ourselves none the less.
There's no one to back me up if we get sick... I'm masking
brothers and sisters! It will only make me stronger and more
capable of being there for my loved ones if I mask according to
the laws of how viruses work.
The modern Hippocratic Oath emphasizes prevention as a key
responsibility, often stated as:
"I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is
preferable to cure". This pledge highlights that a physician's
duty includes promoting health and avoiding illness, rather than
only treating sickness...
.. that is what I am doing now by masking: I am preventing
disease and illness and obeying and respecting the laws of
viruses and their incubation periods when I mask!
The Masked Man
P.S.
Imagine also if I just threw caution to the wind and sat there
in a waiting room totally maskless persons? Sitting there for
hours with possibly sick people being boisterous, gregarious, or
chewing the cud.. that's what kills people. My loved one gets
out of surgery and then I come down with whatever was in the
waiting room and give it to her , someone who is just
recuperating from having gall bladder surgery and is 77 years
old.. of course I masked in the waiting room. I couldn't live
with myself if I hadn't masked around all the sick people..lol..
bless everybody's hearts but that's the real deal. She will be
78 in less than a week! and I think we are gonna make it! All
I'm saying They don't tell you to mask in the waiting room but
they should.

MASK or not & Treat Immunocompromised Patients Differently
DIR By: Masked Man
Date: March 8, 2026, 6:31 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Here's my latest good news
update March 8 2026
Masked Woman's recovery from Gall Bladder surgery is going
great!
As I said I think the medical team masked for her upon my
special request and kept her masked in the more public areas as
she was transported..(I believe the anesthesiologist may have
made my masking concerns stick for all staff caring for her as I
made a case to him that the immune system always declines with
age .. I mentioned t blood cells and I believed her to be
immunocompromised at 77 years old and that we are masked for
this event and that airborne illnesses are a genuine concern for
me and the patient)...its been almost a week and no signs of my
loved one, Masked Woman having picked up any airborne illness or
diseases which is a genuine concern and real risk in busy
hospital areas...
And just because I need to stay strong myself I have been
successfully masking around her when I frequent the areas she
has been. I have no problem watching tv in mask in living room.
I believe there is an incubation up to 14 days after a possible
exposure to covid. it is rare but Ive already masked for 7 days
for all other possible airborne illnesses might as well go the
distance as I haven't had a any airborne illnesses or airborne
diseases in 6 years straight. I mask publicly and take
precautions to all possible exposures.
Just got back for from first walk with Masked woman since her
surgery, she looks incredible! I got footage on my camera of us
walking our road in our masks.. she's going to be 78 years old
this week it is her birthday... I am stoked and proud... she's
got three holes in her stomach and we just got back from a
masked walk! maybe a rugged mile in the hilly mountains! ...stay
tuned for a Masked Man Masked Woman walk Music video! We rock!
The Masked Man
P.S, keep in mind it wasn't but a month or so ago the hospital
had a mask mandate in place several children died of the flu
something called the "super flu" was happening only to be
replaced with influenza B in my area and that was when Masked
Woman was scheduled to receive surgery but it got cancelled
during that period because we thought her surgery wasnt going to
be covered by insurance at that time.. then we found out
insurance was going to cover it and rescheduled surgery. The
mask mandates were lifted but that just meant all these nurses
an everybody in waiting room going maskless ... that's scary
too.. so anyway I made everybody mask around her the best I
could in the hospital. Imagine my loved one who is about to turn
78 getting pneumonia or influenza during day long hospital stay
for gall bladder surgery!? Nobody to speak of was masking
there..I had to request those who approached us to mask! I
declared "We prefer you mask if that's okay" to everyone that
was about to touch her directly prior to surgery in the
different waiting areas... Then I had a special talk with
anesthesiologist which prompted him to put a sign on her
curtained area for nurses to mask before entering...
...Then in waiting room, in my mask I crossed my arms and sat
receiving texts from surgery team every hour as to her progress
and and I would text back thanking them and I texted thanking
them for keeping patient safe with mask on directly after
surgery in hopes she they would have her mask on as she came
down off of anesthesia and was in another waiting area near tons
of other patients in a curtained area where just outside her
were other patients and nurses were all maskless running to and
fro... I think we got everybody to mask around her and I think
they made sure she was masked outside the surgical room as well
and so far so good because let me tell you airborne illnesses
and airborne diseases can kill seniors and we don't want any
complications. Senoirs have a decline in immunity system(that
even makes vaccines less effective for elderly). The fact is the
immunity system declines with age so we take precautions like
masking.. its called defending yourselves!
Its just a fact everybody M.d.s , healthcare workers, doctors
and lawyers, the young and even older people don't wanna see or
believe it,.. they basically don't want to admit to this
scientifically founded medically established fact that the
immune system declines with age and we should protect the
immunity system of seniors by not exposing them to what can kill
them like illness and disease whenever we can by masking they
need to stick on mask for me and my loved one who is
older...Believe me they always end up putting on a mask when
the Masked Man is present and directs them to...
"Understanding the Senior Immune System Unfortunately, aging
typically weakens one's immune system and makes fighting off
infections, sicknesses, and diseases harder. This can result in
a higher chance of contracting conditions and taking longer to
recover from them".
...I, the Masked Man embrace it and accept it and respect the
aforementioned statement above and I defend myself and others by
masking! In my situation and in the conditions I live in,
masking only me tougher and only makes me more impervious to
illness and disease than those who don't mask. Ive been masking
outdoors over 6 years now and have been totally illness free
throughout that time..for masking for me I can report there have
been no side effects or long term repercussions from masking any
more that come from wearing a pair of glasses.., no agonizing
sore throats ..no weird sinus problems , no ear infections ,..
no vomiting no fevers .. no contagious illnesses, my head is
clear enough.. so that is all I know for over 6 years now no
medical bills no antibiotics for anything because I never get
sick. That's not to say I don't need medical attention for stuff
I am unaware of but so far so good.
Not only am masked and being realistic that the immunity system
declines with age, I'm also ready for whatever else comes
besides another variant or surge of covid or anything for that
matter.. human to human bird flu, monkey pox, a strain of
anything that becomes resistance to drugs.evades vaccines, or
some fly by night treatment that simply wanes or doesn't work
completely.. you name it I'm ready. I don't like airborne
illness and airborne diseases so I live part of my life as a
masked way of life.
The mask is great tool. It's only been a good thing in my life.
Also I used to have asthma and allergies as a kid and I'd much
rather live a masked way of life than have to go back and forth
for allergy shots or treatments every couple weeks or suffer
from any of the symptoms these seasonal illnesses seem to be
bringing forth for everybody else. Its just a whole lot easier
for me mentally and physically to wear a mask than deal with all
the crud the maskless have to routinely deal with. Got to add
that wearing a masks saves me financially from having to pay
others to fix my ills. I am not in-debt. A couple days ago I
rode a bicycle for few miles up and down hills in my mask and I
can lift the same amount of weight as I could 6 years ago ..My
vital signs are fine... so what I'm saying is I personally
haven't seen a decline in health for having worn the mask for
that many years. For what it is worth I do wear masks that have
exhale valves in them that I assume might be healthier than
masks that don't have exhale valves. These masks wouldn't
protect others if I had an airborne illness while wearing and
exhaled through the exhale valve but it protects me when I
inhale and protects me form airborne illness, airborne diseases,
as well as many other airborne hazards.
...It's pretty easy to see I believe in masking and preventing
problems from occurring before they begin...
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is a 1736
proverb by Benjamin Franklin suggesting it is easier to stop a
problem from happening than to fix it later. Often applied to
health, fire safety, or business, it means small, proactive
measures save significant future effort."

We Celebrate Masked Woman's Gall Bladder Surgery Success, Her
Recovery, & Her Birthday Music Video...
Its been a week and Masked Woman is doing incredible.. she is
recovering from Gall Bladder Surgery and here's some footage and
our first walk since her surgery! Its also her birthday this
week!
We wear respirator masks and an n95 mask for our health and, to
prevent airborne illness and airborne diseases.
Here's my "We Celebrate Masked Woman's Gall Bladder Surgery
Success, Her Recovery, & Her Birthday Music Video!"
VIDEO LINK:
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGPXAzsMNeQ
I encourage others to wear n95 masks for their health
...otherwise stay home brothers and sisters.
I prefer to stay at home and jam from my bedroom for ya hoping
you will share what you love, what interests you, and always try
to work out problems and even your feelings remotely and
creatively online!
The Masked Man
P.S.
She's supposed to do light walking immediately according to
surgeons to reduce blood clots and circulation problems.. so we
are on our way.. She has a check up in few days. She's got like
three holes in her.. That's Dr. Edminsten's work, and we have a
card from hospital staff that we have to thank as well. I
believe the anesthesiologist made sure everybody was masked
around her as well because of her age and my insistence So I
think everybody did their part.
She's not supposed to lift 15 lbs for three weeks. It's hard to
keep her from doing a lot of stuff.. so I have my hands
full...lol
it's nice ! :)
The Masked Man
P.S. To be on the safe side and to stay strong for myself and
loved one, I am still masking in her presence and in rooms she
frequents for the duration of incubation periods for airborne
illness and airborne diseases just incase there was exposure on
hospital grounds... The longest incubation period seems to be
for covid which can be up to 14 days incubation period which is
rare but possible for that virus.
...Now for a funky legal disclaimer..(technically I'm not
allowed to give medical advice) ...Furthermore while I still
believe healthcare should mask to help prevent seniors who are
immunocompromised from acquiring airborne illness and airborne
disease due to maskless people spreading airborne droplets in a
place meant for healing illness and injury , I also happen to
believe it is wrong not to mask in healthcare areas regardless
of whether inhabitants of healthcare facility are
immunocompromised, elderly , healthy or not ...I guess You Tube
policy is I'm not allowed to give medical advice although I am
allowed to give and make statements for the sake of
educational/informational purposes so I should state I am not a
doctor although I believe doctors and healthcare should mask for
seniors...I guess I should say all medical information some of
which was generated by AI is for educational/informational
purposes only, not medical advice... (That being said the
following is backed up by established medical studies and
science):
"AI Overview
Immune system decline with age, or "
immunosenescence," involves a reduced ability to fight
infections, slower wound healing, and lower vaccine efficacy,
typically accelerating after age 65. This process is driven by
thymic involution (reduced T-cell production), impaired B-cell
function, and chronic low-grade inflammation known as
"inflammaging"."
..." adults with immune systems weakened by age
(immunosenescence) or underlying conditions should wear masks,
particularly in crowded or indoor, poorly ventilated spaces, as
they are at higher risk for severe infections like COVID-19,
RSV, and influenza. Well-fitting masks (e.g., N95) protect
vulnerable individuals without weakening their immune systems. "

Update: March 13th 2026
My loved one is recovering fine from Gall Bladder surgery..
We've been doing our masked walks a few days in row...
Insofar as masking around her and masking in the rooms she
occupies for almost two weeks straight Ive done fine...
I did start to falter with food the last few days. Typically I
would microwave a plate of food and take it back to my room and
wash my hands and take off my mask eating in a private room but
I failed in a sense just the the last few days by eating a
couple plates of food without microwaving it first. So
technically I failed at taking all precations for the full 2
weeks(for that 14 day covid incubation period). If she had
somehow contracted covid its possible I could get covid from
eating those dishes. Except for the last three days with eating
some food she prepared without really nuking it in the
microwave, I have continued to mask around her and in the rooms
she occupied. This seems kind of stupid on my part to skimp on
nuking my meals the last three days since Ive been so good about
doing everything else so I won't let that happen again.
She's doing great no signs of having gotten any airborne illness
or airborne disease after her hospital surgery and three more
days and I can take my mask off when I'm around her.
Overall I have been successful masking and still carrying on
with her...I guess it also helps to think I'm in training and
that from this experience I'll be in good practice to mask
around her again after I take her to the dentist. Its not easy
but the longer one does it, the more natural it feels. Overall
the experience gives me confidence I can mask again for the net
possible exposure she might have.
Later folks.. now in an n95 mask for another evening I go sit
in the easy chair and watch tv. She is doing well and is writing
stories for substack on her little computer.
She has a checkup in a couple days. I'd say we are doing pretty
good. I've only gotten stronger for having masked around her to
be on the safe side. I am glad I am masking to be on the safe
side. Using the mask keeps me in a favorable position where I
can continue to be strong for us :)
It takes a certain kind of discipline to mask inside your own
home around loved ones but then again its a such a great skill
to have and power to have. Other animals can't do that for
themselves. It's pretty priceless to be able to control the odds
as to whether one might get sick or not by being able to wear a
mask... masking a great tool to to ensure safety and being able
to secure one health. I didn't have anybody else that would take
care of me just incase she brought home a virus and got me sick
from the hospital(even though we masked at the hospital and the
doctors and nurses were ordered to mask).. there was and is no
one that will help me if I got sick.. so I had to mask anyway.
Anyway its all in a day's work because Ive' masked outside my
home anyway for over six years now with success. In three days
I'll be able to unmask around my loved one again in our home but
things are hard enough as they are, ain't no way I'm giving up
my masking outdoors and outside the home! My idea is we don't
just mask because we are weak or vulnerable.. we mask to
maintain whatever strength we got. We mask outside and publicly
to keep and maintain whatever health we have.
Gotta tell ya my reality is nobody is going to come to my aid in
a mask and help me. when it comes down to it, there's nobody I
know but me to protect myself with a mask. Maybe someday that
will change.. I hope so but I'm masking just the same whether
that day comes or not. My masked way of life is working for me
so far. My dream is meet, collaborate and work with other
maskers someday in a safe well thought out manner when it makes
sense to. The way things are going for the world I am sure over
time that will happen.
The Masked Man
P.S. another good day has passed and I just got back from a
wonderful masked walk with my loved one.. we sat next to
waterfall and contemplated the beauties of the water and the
rocks and I even jumped on my bicycle and got some exercise in
my mask as well.. I do this to prove to myself and others that
the Masked Man and the Masked Woman aren't just sitting around
depressed.. we wear masks and we live life to the fullest and
happiest we can! We have no problem carrying on and enjoying
life in our masks .. doesn't matter to us. We don't care what
other people think about our masks as a matter of fact we think
people are kind of stupid for not making and are somewhat
judgmental of them.. at least I am. No hard feelings or anything
but I am of the mind we are going to continue to be challenged
by one pandemic after another..really as unpopular a view as it
will be, I personally feel the pandemic has just begun... I am a
scholar of sorts and I see patterns and indicators that point to
lots of contagious illnesses happening...
...That's just me and my opinions..what really matters is I
enjoy never getting sick over the last 6 years because of my
masking habits(another way of putting it is there are only 52
weeks a year... and with the current illnesses and diseases and
their long term repercussions going around nearly every season
of the year I simply don't have to worry about that part of life
because of my masking ...I simply prefer being safe and masking
to prevent airborne illnesses and airborne diseases that can
compromise my immunity system and endanger my loved one's life
who is has a decline in her immunity system due to age.. We are
used to masking. Stay tuned ..in the making is another music
video of our masked walk/ or time at the waterfall, and my
masked bike ride! Have a great weekend! :)
Personal NOTE:
UPDATE:March 14th 2026
I just read:
"In rare cases, covid symptoms can show up after 14 days.
Researchers think this happens with about 1 out of every 100
people."
MAN!That's one vicious disease! So even after 14 days of masking
around loved one there's still that tiny chance of getting
covid!? Can you imagine?!
Today was tough because all last night I guess I had allergies.
I used some nose spray... So today my nose is running in my
mask. Then neighbor's burning brush so smoke is entering my
home. I yelled a few profanities (probably not helpful) I
avoided conflict however(Ive called firefighters before and
there is nothing they can do) and I cleaned all filters and now
and using air conditioner and couple air purifiers and I think
its working so that's good. Nose still running but whatever, we
take what precautions ..not exactly sure what allergies are so
bad but of course it could be worse. Maybe its the smoke
..Haven't quite pinpointed why but its Very typical allergic
reaction after spending tons of time outside even in my mask..
maybe its allergens..I had binged on a ton of cheese and whole
milk last night as well,,, maybe I even wore the disposable n95
mask too long. Ive gotten a fresh mask and do what I usually do
to make whatever triggered allergies subside. Set of musty
clothes? All I know is in the evening my nose felt congested I
used some nose spray and my nose has been running a little just
like allergies.. otherwise I lifted some weights and feel
fine...Every now and then I get allergies around damp plumbing
or when I eat the wrong things like lots of cheese and whole
milk so that's likely what it is.. I guess one thing could
offset and trigger allergies..I'm not really that great at
keeping room clean and vacuumed and dust free that's for sure..
probably a combination of everything I do wrong.. I'll probably
be good in a day so now I work on music video while loved one
seems safe in her air-conditioned room to watch tv... Sometime
the world really eats at ya and gets to ya and so today I will
stay busy with something positive and artistic for myself to get
through the dooldrums we all feel time to time.
Last time I got allergies I spent the day outside ...I mowed the
grass.. did extra outdoor work and then exercised on my
bicycle.. I did this all in my mask but still ended with
allergies for about a day afterwards..I almost feel like I ended
up with allergies because I didn't shower immediately after I
mowed ... I guess from being outside too long when allergens and
pollen are outside somehow they still get ya!... maybe the air
conditioners and air purifiers I just cleaned up help... Maybe
my clothes bandannas etc. bring in allergens.. sounds like its
easy for allergens to seep in through the house.. I'm in the
mountains surrounded by unkempt trees and there's lots of
digging and construction work is not far aways .. I guess I
better do some loads of laundry too... I dunno the neighbor's
did stop burning brush maybe me having screamed a few choice
words and profanities helped or maybe they just got sick of
their own smoke... either way I'm still keeping my distance and
gonna keep my cool.. ah there we go just threw yesterdays
clothing that ha been outside yesterday into washer ... man ,
its always something! ::)
Locally for me there is a lot of pollen in the air...
"Pollen levels are high and rising in North Carolina as of
mid-March 2026, driven by a warm-up following a cold winter that
has forced multiple tree species to pollinate simultaneously"
Here are the details regarding the allergen situation in North
Carolina as of March 14, 2026:
Pollen Levels: Tree pollen is heavily affecting North
Carolina, with reports of "high" levels in various parts of the
state.
Trigger Factors: A significant, rapid warmup after a cold
winter has accelerated the release of pollen from trees like
cedar, elm, maple, and oak.
Regional Impact: The 2026 allergy season is particularly
severe, with North Carolina facing high levels of pollen that
are starting earlier each year.
Peak Timing: While pollen is currently high, the absolute
peak of the spring pollen season—often called "The Pollening"—is
expected to hit in late March to early April.
Common Symptoms: Many residents are experiencing typical
spring symptoms, including itchy/watery eyes, runny noses, and
sneezing.
Key Recommendations:
Check Daily Counts: Pollen counts are generally higher in
the afternoon, often driven by wind and rising temperatures.
Minimize Exposure: Shower before bed to wash off pollen, and
keep windows closed, especially during high-pollen days.
Medication: Start allergy medications early (or before) the
peak season begins to better manage symptoms."
... wouldn't ya know it but just now I opened up a box from the
UPS guy.. there's like eight different antihistamines and
decongestants my loved one had ordered..to a guy who wears his
mask so much this runny nose from allergens is like an insult!
I'm not much into drugs but perhaps I'll try an antihistamine
out and see what happens. ouch! I just cut my finger a little
opening the childproof antihistamine bottle! Man! now I gotta go
put some antibiotic creme on my little bloody finger! Ha! It's
just ben one of those days.. sometimes it seems like the whole
world is against ya but it could be far worse! my loved one just
got through gall bladder surgery , came home the same day ..
just turned 78 and she's doing fine! whew lol Ive got it good
considering. As long as I don't make the mistake of turning the
tv on and watching the world news I should be good the rest of
the evening! :)
"Why has early pollen been so bad this year in the Carolinas?
A cold end to winter, combined with a surge of March warmth, has
allowed for many trees to pollinate at the same time."

UPDATE:March 14-15th 2026
I guess the antihistamine and the decongestion medicine did the
trick.my nose stopped running but I stayed up all night... I
winded running up and down my street all night in my mask so
angry at neighbors for having had burned brush earlier today and
having that smoke enter my home from this morning.. I nearly
lost it in anger... I finally stuck two pictures in their
mailbox from when my loved one was bedridden in the hospital for
her gall bladder surgery . I left a note saying please stop
burning brush for my loved one written on the the pictures of
her in the hospital bed. It was all I could do from losing my
temper.. I just ran up and down the street all night in my mask
dealing with the anger an frustration the best I could. I just
had so much anger over the smoke I just had to jog back in forth
all night in my mask up and down the road. Everybody deals with
anger in their own way and I just ran in my mask up and down the
road... that's was the only way I could deal with the stress of
trying to control the world and the environment around me.
From my perspective five guys burning brush sometimes like
burning 20 hours straight next to a 78 year old.. smoke collects
in pockets of of home..that smoke permeates can't go outside or
anything.. fire department won't do anything ..that creates a
lot of inner rage. I admit at hollering and trying to get the
guy to come down the hill to meet me in the street ...I won't
get into details accept I left my left a couple pictures of my
loved one in a hospital bed with a note on it saying "pray more
loved one , she's all I got " and she can't handle the smoke.
please stop burning brush. (I didn't have a choice but try to
rattle their cage because its perfectly legal unless you go
through court procedures and try to get air quality people to
actually fight for you .. all I felt I could do was make a fuss
and run up and down the road all night ranting and raving in
protest making a show of bravado trying to convince the guy up
on the hill I'm serious keeping him and him up all night
hopefully just to give him something to think about.
They seriously don't care . Last time they burned brush my 78
year old loved one puked in the toilette while the fire
department told me the guys had a burn permit. You gotta let
that rage out somehow. The guy exchanged a few words with me
last night but never come down the hill so I just ran all night
back and forth.. nothing illegal about going for a jog eh?. What
else is a protecter supposed to do? Mind you I was safe from
airborne illness and airborne disease the whole time because had
my mask on just incase anybody approached me.
My true hope is the neighbors will look at the pictures I stuck
in their mailbox of my loved one in the hospital bed and think
"Oh that looks like a relative of mine.. okay maybe we can just
use a woodchopper instead and maybe burning wood isn't that
great and won't win us any friends and I hope that older woman
is alright and this place is smoke free for her"...
...Anyway that's how I spent my night and insofar as allergies
go my nose isn't running anymore so I guess the decongestant and
antihistamine did the trick with the allergens going on here in
the High Country of North Carolina!
UPDATE:March 15-16th 2026
First thing in morning mighty tempted at first to just have cup
of coffee in living room without mask and then not worry if
loved one entered room... what's one day give or takeI
entertained the thought for a couple moments but then I quickly
corrected myself and said to myself: it's stupid to mask for 13
days and then skip that final glorious 14th day! Its a 14 day
incubation period for covid (it being extremely rare for the
incubation period to be longer than 14 days) So right away I
said this is crazy to not go all the way! To just mask for 13
days and not go that final 14th day would make me feel bad like
I broke some law of nature like the law of covid's incubation
period so I quickly got back to my room drank my coffee and
slipped back on the n95 mask to re-enter rooms of loved one! :)
I also must add that once in the habit of doing something even
masking that it simply feels awkward and uncomfortable not to
keep dong it. It actually feels bad not to do something once you
are in the habit of doing it.
I thought I was going to have to make a bicycle trip to pharmacy
in some light rain today so I got everything ready then find out
I didn't have to go. I decided to ride anyway for exercise so I
wanted to test out my gear and just ride in the rain.. it was a
masked bicycle ride of course and it was fun ... just riding
through parking lots finding shortcuts to the greenway park and
bike path and just cruising on my bicycle. I did it to stay
sharp and just test out my jacket and helmet and mask in the
rain. Its just good to stay sharp and keep moving with a groove!
Tomorrow I can stop masking around my loved one and the rooms
she frequents and I can eat in the same quarters she is in.
While I did initially dread knowing to feel safe during and
after loved one's surgery that I was going to have to wear a
mask around her and inside areas of home for about two weeks,
Now I'm used to masking, psychologically prepared, and totally
ready for the next time I have to mask around loved one incase
of exposure to anything during surgery or dentistry work. I'm
super in the habit.. it becomes routine like having to have the
right pair of glasses or gloves or something for each
activity.. it becomes habit... After two weeks its like nothing
to mask for loved one to be on the safe side.
To be able to not wear mask around loved one won't be what most
people expect... it will actually feel slightly awkward at first
because one gets used to habit and routine. It will be nice of
course but it won't actually feel like a big big deal to
unmask. Again once one is in the habit and routine of anything
they get used to it. Not having to wear the mask round loved one
after two weeks will feel sort of like "ha! I don't have to wear
these reading glasses for this book."

SPECIAL UPDATE: March 16th 2026
Yippie!!! we hit the special Gall Bladder recovery two week
mark!
I graduated from wearing mask around loved one and the rooms she
frequented for two weeks after her surgery. No problem wearing
mask .. comparable to having to wear reading glasses... I will
have no problem masking for loved one again inside home if I
ever feel she could have been exposed to airborne illness or
airborne disease if she ever has to have surgery or dental needs
again.
.
She had follow up appointment today. We wear masks and as usual
I always get the jitters and nervous worrying if people will
mask for us at the doctors office visits when handling my loved
one... however the pre-jitters weren't nearly as bad because I
pretty much have the doctor, the physician assistant, and nurses
trained to mask for us at that place.
The waiting room which is kind the worst part for me
psychologically to have to sit amongst maskless people wasn't
crowded. I always tell my loved one to be prepared to change
seats if someone enters and sits to close for comfort for us.
One person came in and sat way across the room so that didn't
bother me too much today. They weigh her and then I tell the
nurse as we enter the examination room "As usual , we prefer you
mask for us , if that's alright" and she complied quite
gracefully and checked my loved ones vitals and such while
masked. We remained masked of course through it all. I
periodically try to wash hands of loved one and my own and even
spray some rubbing alcohol here and there on objects we sit in.
Then as nurse leaves examination room I say to her "please
remind the doctor(the physicians assistant) of our masking
preferences and we prefer he mask" The examination went great
and my loved one has recovered from gall bladder sure quite
well. Evidently there were a lot of gallstones in there and it
can be dangerous not to do surgery so I'm glad we got the
surgery and it was successful. (as usual we drive home and throw
clothes in wash, washing hands a lot and finally taking mask off
last before showering)
Here's the deal, airborne illness and airborne disease is the
'Achilles heel' and the weak link in the chain for all
healthcare and people. Masking and taking extra precautions is
well worth the effort. My loved one just turned 78 and even
though she is in relatively good health, for her to get
pneumonia or influenza could kill her besides I don't want that
stuff either.. I hate suffering and I have rational fear about
the long term repercussions many of today's viruses can
carry...I just don't like to take those kinds of chances so I
mask... Masking for me is nothing. Ive been doing it so long and
I mask while doing hard outdoor vigorous work so having a mask
on for hours is nothing to me.
The Masked Man
P.S. I did take my inquiry and questions for the doctors and
physicians assistance down and deleted these comments off of
their Youtube sites.. but I left my public inquiry and concerns
and questions here in my previous replies in this thread because
they are good questions in regards to why healthcare doesn't
mandate masking for all healthcare workers to help prevent
airborne illness and airborne disease which is such a problem
today and shouldn't we mask simply because we work with high
proportion of seniors? ...and shouldn't we mask because seniors
have a natural decline in immunity system due to age , etc? and
its important seniors don't get sick? Healthcare should answer
to these concerns and questions or rather I should say all of
healthcare should mask automatically for these reasons and these
concerns.
I forgot to mention something that transpired in the hospital
waiting room where I sat in my mask while my loved one received
gall bladder surgery. For the most part I just sat there with
crossed arms and practically napped or meditated somewhat.
People were fairly still and fairly quiet. All I know is as soon
as I pulled a book out of my back pocket and tried to read a
little it was like the whole place started relaxing too much for
my taste .. the place started getting louder and louder and
people started visiting a lot louder. I stuck the book back into
my pocket , crossed my arms and pretended to nap or just stare
into the distance or sometimes it was like I was thinking to
myself staring at the ceiling sometimes..but mostly I just
remained as still as possible with arms crossed and it got real
quiet again . I liked that.. it was like everybody's breath
slowed down and they were real quiet .. it felt safer to me ...
Maybe the room was respecting a guy in a mask napping ..all I
know is I just totally preferred everybody being nice 'n'
still, quiet, and calm so I just sat there half snoozing with
arms crossed and the place stayed fairly calm and quiet like
everybody's heart rate got real slow.
I hope my experiences helps someone at this site with their
journey. It helped me tremendously to share my feelings and
views as a person concerned with viruses, as a person who
'masks', and a caregiver on this site and I thank viewers and
readers for allowing me the opportunity to share my feelings,
thoughts, and what I went through and my ideas during my loved
one's Gall Bladder surgery and her recovery.

Description:
Here I do a little Jazz on my old Yamaha classical guitar Ive
had since I was 16 years old! I also threw together some footage
of me and my loved one going for a walk, looking at stones at
the little waterfall, and me getting some exercise on a Schwinn
Ranger mountain bike down the road and through the edge of town
and back... We wear masks for our health .. We enjoy the
beauties of the world!
,,,Masked woman just recovered from Gall Bladder surgery and its
been two weeks. She had her checkup today and everything is
going great.. I might add we wore masks and had the team of
doctors nurses and physicians assistants wear masks prior during
and after her surgery and I wore a mask in waiting room and
elsewhere in public of course and I am happy say we were safe
from airborne illness and airborne disease through it all!
Me and my loved one have been masking publicly & outdoors with
respirator type mask and n95 masks for over 6 years now and have
not gotten a single airborne illness or airborne disease and
have also been relatively protected from outdoor hazardous
particulates for over 6 years and I plan to maintain that record
of health and vitality.
...I simply prefer being safe and masking to prevent airborne
illnesses and airborne diseases that can compromise my immunity
system and endanger my loved one's life who has a decline in
her immunity system due to age. I highly recommend safety masks
for health and to help prevent airborne illness and airborne
disease... I hope my music videos inspire people to mask for
their health...
