2025 US Human H5N1 Tracking Thread
By: Data Report Date: January 6, 2025, 2:57 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
This will be the 2025 tracking thread for all cases news and
studies on H5N1 in humans in the US.
Sadly I have to start the thread off with the report of the 1st
US human H5N1 death which has occurred in Louisiana.

Commenting on Louisiana Health department's sadly lacking advice
I'd like to add Some extra tips here that are in order ...I'm
going to put the 'pre' into the word precautions here and go out
on a limb and suggest Louisiana Health Department wake up and
advise people who think they are going to expose themselves to
bird flu on a regular basis like people who keep chickens in
       their backyard to also practice:
MASKING and WEARING GOGGLES and GLOVES
if planning on exposing yourself to bird flu...
Make it a science of not breathing it in , Don't sniff, touch
rub your eyes or mess with animals you think might have bird
flu..wear a MASK and GOGGLES and don't expose your skin or
membranes to bird flu ... take precautions that actually work
like masks and goggles if you mess with animals that might
possibly have bird flu... Mask up and wear goggles around
chickens because bird flu is running rampant all over the darn
world right now Louisiana and company, farmers, and
veterinarians etc.!! I have experience with chickens and if they
have bird flu they will infect you with their natural behavior.
REALITY: That human that could have been our mom or dad that
died from bird flu from their backyard chickens in Louisiana
probably would not have gotten infected if they had worn a mask
and goggles and gloves! That's the truth of the matter! I'm
sorry but if that person in Louisiana had worn a mask and
goggles around their backyard chickens they would likely be
       perfectly fine today and alive.
In case your masks goggles and gloves don't work around
chickens that flap in feces and are prone to catching diseases
like bird flu feel free to also follow Louisiana health
       department advice:
"The Louisiana Department of Health gives the advice as to how
Protecting yourself and others from H5N1 infection:
"Do not touch sick or dead animals or their droppings and do not
bring sick wild animals into your home.
Keep your pets away from sick or dead animals and their feces.
Do not eat uncooked or undercooked food. Cook poultry, eggs and
other animal products to the proper temperature and prevent
cross-contamination between raw and cooked food.
Avoid uncooked food products such as unpasteurized raw milk or
cheeses from animals that have a suspected or confirmed
       infection.
If you work on poultry or dairy farms, talk to your provider
about getting your seasonal flu vaccination. It will not prevent
infection with avian influenza viruses, but it can reduce the
risk of coinfection with avian and flu viruses.
Report dead or sick birds or animals to the USDA toll-free at
1-866-536-7593 or the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and
       Forestry Diagnostic Lab at 318-927-3441."
P.S. follow the Masked Man's scientific reasoning, bird keepers,
cattle farmers, farmers veterinarians etc... ya catch bird flu
by breathing it into your lungs or getting it in your eyes
therefore it stands to reason you won't catch bird flu if you
don't breathe it into your lungs and/or don't get it into your
eyes because of a mask and goggles.. that's using reason! Make
it a science of not breathing it in or getting it into your eyes
by wearing a a mask and goggles.. that's applied science!
EXPERIENCE THE REALITY Of possible bird flu Exposure: Here's a
video of me shooing away some stray chickens that entered my
yard These chickens and roosters were at my bird feeder where
the day after I found a wren with eye conjunctivitis was
frequenting at my feeder also. I had to take down my bird feeder
for awhile for fear all my birds would get eye conjunctivitis..
I'm wearing a mask.. Roosters can also have razor sharp claws
and be dangerous around their hens.. I recommend goggles as
chickens can and do flap real close to your face...a mask and
goggles could very well save your life and save you from getting
avian flu, You go into a chicken coop and you are exposed there
are no two ways about that! They are right in your face. You're
going to breathe in their feather dust and they flap up their
nesting material into the air all the time and that's for sure.
... This is my how not to catch bird flu by wearing a mask
video so you are safe VIDEO LINK:
  HTML https://drive.google.com/file/d/13ZggIAWUFjyQK7zzAsp6XBYxL6bOvehh/view
quite frankly you gotta be plum crazy dumb birdbrains not to
mask up around these creatures to risk a disease like avian
flu..you wouldn't want to breathe in the nesting areas of those
fowl any more than you'd want to breathe in the nesting areas of
a bunch of rodents as one of them flapped up real close to my
neck I could feel the air from his flapping right on the back of
my neck! That's how close they get. Next time I wear goggles man
I don't want their feather dust in my eye no matter what
Louisiana Health department says I'm masking and I'd wear a
mask and goggles if I were you. ...underneath bandanna is my
mask/ respirator and it has a valve to freely exhale from for
prolonged use and appropriate cartridges to filter out covid,
bird flu as well as a host of airborne diseases.
By the way I lived in Virginia in an area that is considered the
poultry capital of the world and where there are tons of poultry
workers and mennonites too so basically this whole idea from
various spokespeople that the public shouldn’t be concerned
about bird flu does not apply to my point of view because where
I am from the general public consisted of farmers! Bird flu is
more than a public concern that’s for sure!
I think it’s fair enough to press Louisiana Health department a
little and ask them why on earth they wouldn’t at least suggest
masks and goggles to people who have backyard chickens in their
area because of the recent cases of Avian flu and considering
somebody with chickens just died in Louisiana’s backyard
probably for not wearing a mask or goggles. It wouldn’t be the
most unorthodoxed or weirdest thing in the world for a health
department to tell the public they might want to wear a filter
over their mouth and nose and shield their pretty eyes for a
disease that in the past has been known to kill 50 percent: that
is killed half of all those it has infected and probably maimed
and severely disabled the remaining half . After all let’s face
it just because ya survive or live through something doesn’t
mean you’ll come out on top in one piece.
       .

This is something we will have to keep an eye on in NJ. H5N1 is
now being picked up in the wastewater at the Passaic Valley
       Sewerage Commission.
