SUMMARY - The San Antonio Zoo has closed three bird exhibits due
to the threat of HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza). A
deceased wild black vulture that was found on zoo grounds and it
has returned a 'non-negative' test result for HPAI [Ed. Note -
This seems to imply that the test couldn't be conclusively ruled
as 'negative'].

SUMMARY:
Salisbury Zoo is installing additional mesh netting over bird
exhibits this week as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent the
spread of avian influenza.Feb 20, 2025 Updated Feb 21, 2025

Masked Man comment: This is the best news so far because there
were no reports of bird flu and yet the Salisbury Zoo has taken
upon themselves to increase their bird flu precautions with new
safety measures prior to any report of infections. This is the
way all zoos should behave...actually trying to prevent it
before it happens! excellent! (I believe they are also wearing
PPE personal protection equipment and taking sanitation measures
when feeding and caring for the birds also noted within this
news article)
I hope their precautions work and I applaud these efforts on the
part of zoos trying to prevent bird flu rather than just waiting
for it to happen before putting measures in place. Let's hope
they are taking enough measures and that it does indeed prevent
bird flu in their zoo.
