Looks like H5N9 has now been found in California. BNO news is
also reporting this is a new variant of H5N9. I will add another
source/post if I see one.
Source of information.

Masked Man's side note:
New variant of H5N9 eh? You'd think that would move less
cautious people to action and CDC and other factions would ramp
up their efforts to defend themselves and become more vigilant
in their efforts.
I'm personally living as if bird flu is already thriving human
to human. For me that's an easier way to live than living as if
it won't happen.
I'd rather live with the precautions than without. I'd rather be
safe than sorry and even if I'm wrong about bird flu jumping to
human to human Ive got myself safe and masked with other
precautionary measures and protocols in place from pesky
airborne diseases that are thriving anyway.
For me taking precautions such as masking, cleaning surfaces
prior to entering my home, not socializing person to person, and
basically taking precautions against all airborne diseases feels
healthy because Ive established these habits and protocols for
five years now.
I actually live as if bird flu already exists and yet I lead a
fulfilling enough life in that all my needs are met and I don't
feel out of touch with reality or anything. I have less stress
than ever and a lot less fear because I'm already living as if
the worst could happen. That just suits my personality and helps
me sleep at night knowing I'm ready for the next pandemic (on
top of the one that is still occurring) and if it doesn't wreak
human to human havoc(even though bird flu already is a pandemic
and will affect farming and production and food source according
to my sources), I'm as safe as I'll ever be... I like the
security of being safe with my measures in place. For me taking
extra precautions against viruses only enhances my security and
joy in life.
I'm always grateful for my mask especially when I hear about new
variants. I haven't missed out on anything in life by wearing a
mask for five years outside my door. I have self respect and am
quite proud of this ability, precations and masking Ive
developed because I haven't been sick in five years of anything.
It will be interesting if not getting sick actually adds years
onto my life. Not getting sick probably does add years onto ones
life.
These precautions are mere habits for me now and I'm grateful
for discipline of having developed these habits even if I
wasn't in any danger of being exposed to a virus. I trained
myself to wear mask and take precautions when people weren't
around so that I am well trained in mask for that occasional
encounter and I am glad for having trained myself safely that
way.
I still have fears and challenges to deal with in life but they
are a different set of fears and challenge that equal less
because of my masked way of life. Its as if choosing to be
different and wearing a safety mask outside my house is the
lesser of two evils for me...Based on studies and data and my
own personal opinions and reasoning I see a world of people at
the mercy of microscopic entities and I am in harmony with my
beliefs in what direction I think the world is turning into and
so I chose my own self defense measures and actions and I fear
less in my mask and the social stigma is worth it for me than to
risk living with illnesses and diseases. I used to have asthma
and allergies as a kid so I am simply avoiding that and feel my
masking and cleaning rituals are superior than risking a
respiratory disease again or any disease for that matter. OI
also have and older loved one whom I don't want to subject to
modern day set of airborne diseases. It seems reasonable
behavior to me and I make the best of it and even take advantage
of my special powers to some extent.
My mask and precautions rituals are like super good insurance..
real insurance that provide self defense on the spot in real
time.
Anyway for what it is worth that is how this masked man reacts
to the new variant of bird flu. Hope my remarks and experience
with living with masking and a lot cleaning and safety rituals
inspire someone else to adopt safety measures such as masking in
their lives. I hope my comments help give someone an idea of the
tools they need to survive and I hope I help someone deal with
the physical and psychological challenges I feel the individual
will need in order to deal with society and an ever changing
world events and happenings that are virus and and to be able to
cope pandemic related issues and realities. I'd like to empower
people so that there is at least a group of us that are
likeminded so we can all help one another in what I believe are
the current challenges and the challenges ahead of all of us.
Its great to be,
The Masked Man

... now if only all the other zoos would go ahead and take at
least the 'Animal Care and Safety Protocols' this zoo was forced
to we could save some animals!
It would be a dirty rotten shame if these animal care and
safety protocols aren't adopted by other zoos before the animals
actually get sick so as to protect them in advance.
Oh how much nicer would it be to read something like: "
'Puffins' are favorite bird is alive and well and our zoo has
just put in place 'Animal Care and Safety Precautions' to keep
it that way!" :) ..that would be good news for a change.

SUMMARY:
Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach confirms bird flu cases,
announces temporary closure
LINK:
HTML https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/virginia-beach/hunt-club-farm-in-virginia-beach-confirms-bird-flu-cases-announces-temporary-closure/
Masked Man says:
A" hunt club farm" on beach!? That's just gross and weird and
should be closed down anyway. Farming, beaches, tourists with
gunpowder is just unsavory combination of tasteless immorality.
A Hunting clubs!? A group of people with guns to shoot something
that was raised behind a fence is simply not intelligent
behavior. Its not fair, its not sportsman like, its not
practical and serves no function in society. I can see hunting
as means for survival but hunting clubs are just too weird for
me ..its also bizarre and indecent behavior to shoot an animal
that was bred inside a fence to stand there if you ask me.
Are these hunting clubs designed for busload of mentally
challenged people from rich families so that they too have a
chance to shoot animals..if so that is weird. Do they have
wheelchair ramps so old alcoholics in wheelchairs have access to
shoot the quail like I see in the movies? Are these places like
golfing clubs where they mow the lawn for easy access so
shooters can drive straight up to the animal in their golf-carts
for ease and dead aim?
Is this a facility that charges a ton of money so some Elmer
Fudd type can pull the trigger and he gets his money back if he
can't seem to hit anything? In other words they charge money so
some guy can pull the trigger while the facility does all the
dirty work like slice up the kill and everything and they do
this in a mass setting like large groups of people come to do
this everyday like an amusement park?
What is humane about letting a bunch of Elmer Fudds and tourists
shoot captivated animals which probably weren't that well taken
care of to begin with? I dunno I am highly speculative about
organizations that feed off of animals they raise to be killed
in the name of sportsmanship with gunpowder. That's not real
hunting and that's not real farming and killing ain't a sport at
least I wasn't raised that way.
I know some hunters and even they would agree hunting club farms
is not real hunting nor is it fair to the animal and its
something to be ashamed of.
Hunting club farms host “morally reprehensible” conduct that a
significant portion of society would view as unethical or
immoral.
I don't get political but the practices of hunting farms just
sickens me..

SUMMARY - Buncombe County officials report that a dead waterfowl
bird at Lake Julian Park (State of North Carolina) has received
a "preliminarily positive" test result for Avian Influenza H5N1,
commonly known as bird flu. Officials say staff at Lake Julian
Park have identified eight deceased within the park and
additional test results are pending. There is currently no
timeline for when these results will be available. Despite these
findings, the park will remain open, but visitors are advised to
avoid touching or feeding waterfowl.
COMMENTARY - Yes, keep the park open to human visitors while
there is an active threat of HPAI. What's the worst that could
possibly happen? ::)

Masked Man footprintnote(a footnote that I fear has just
begun)/clawnote:
What we are witnessing is very disturbing and very real watching
the demise of these creatures... the territory and range of
area is colossal... I don't see any part of the USA or world
that isn't affected by this virus.. I don't even see how or why
it isn't jumping from human to human as it is clearly jumping
within the same species of other animals. I don't see
scientifically why it isn't jumping human to human. What of
smaller animals that are pervasive? I guess it is a form of
influenza. Anything goes at this stage. There are more questions
to this mess than there are answers just as sure as we are in
the animal chain ourselves.
This HPAI is clearly not a mere local problem nor merely a
seasonal episode but a widely dispersed disease amongst all
parts of the world right now.
I can't help but feel we need to somehow house and quarantine
and protect groups of species including ourselves from possible
extinction like some sort of Noah's Arc program. We need to try
to secure some protection somehow This will be a challenge.
As Data Report says "WE ARE IN UNCHARTERED TERRITORY" ... I
couldn't say it better!
Anyway this territory and scope of this HPAI is huge and must
have an impact on our ways of life regardless.
Just a blast from the past...Its definitely growing actually
exploding since 2022 I can't help but remember in 2022 the
penguins in Antarctica were being studied LINK:
HTML https://sunlive.co.nz/news/315525-protecting-penguins-from-bird-flu.html
I remember it quite well. Now it's in major food sources
chickens and cattle and across many species and across the
globe. It used to be in parts of Asia I guess. makes you wonder
about the world warming and dense population etc. ...One can't
help but stand in awe... we are but little mortals not far
different from other animals sharing much in common in heart and
blood and central nervous systems ...Now look at the differences
between 2022 and now how its grown in in 2025. :o
(The change in the numbers and data since 2022 is staggering..
one must only compare the data from 2022 to 2025 to know bird
flu stands before us as a daunting reality. In the past we
wouldn't even be able to have access to this data ..we'd be
limited to the 6 o'clock news and three channels of tv and maybe
a newspaper article or two when I was growing up. I'd rather
know it was happening than not know. Thank you for your work and
keeping our eyes open Data Report and forum members!)
