Hopefully will not need to make a tracking thread on my site
just for the Tour de France, but things are trending towards
what happened last year.

So far since 2021 I’ve seen two bicyclists advocate the mask
publicly when cycling there’s Steve Petrarch..
SUMMARY
Steve Petrar wanted to advocate for the wearing of the N95 mask
he uses as a health-care provider. He wanted to document that he
wore the mask while doing the Everest Challenge.
Steve Petrar is an anesthesiologist at St. Paul's Hospital.

It’s a wonder and hard to believe out of all the people in the
world we don’t see more masked athletes ..it’s as if covid
doesn’t exist for athletes … it’s astronomically unreal more
athletes don’t publicly advocate masking (especially after they
get sick) considering all the data we get about long covid
complications that we rarely get a glimpse of anything in
regards to masked athletes.
.. and then there is me the Masked Man that advocates safety
masks while doing sports and cycling..

Masked Man's Bicycle Ride And Other Videos set to Music To
Inspire Others To Mask up

Moreover I used to literally get sick (headaches and couldn’t
sleep)riding my bicycle in heavy traffic before I masked simply
because there is a ton of air pollution bicyclists face on that
toxic highway that exhaust pipe after exhaust pipe has pounded
odorless fumes into the pores of pavement.. … so masks for
bicyclists make sense…
While googling:
“Do cycling anti-pollution masks work?"
"some anonymous mask user replies :
Cycling in a good quality paper n95 mask should get rid of
around 95 percent of the nastiness in the air if you use it
properly. It doesn't noticeably restrict breathing for me.Aug
21, 2024”
It’s a wonder cyclists don’t adopt N95 masks like they have
adopted the safety helmet considering all these health factors.

“Viral meningitis will usually get better on its own and rarely
causes any long-term problems. Most people with bacterial
meningitis who are treated quickly will also make a full
recovery, although some are left with serious, long-term
problems.Jun 15, 2023”
I know very little about the forms of meningitis but Years ago I
had a girlfriend who lost a cousin to what was termed spinal
meningitis at the time. I remember it was quite shocking as my
girlfriend was quite close to her young cousin and it was a very
fast unexpected death and loss to the family.

Mary Lou Retton DUI arrest (full bodycam video)
SUMMARY Jul 10, 2025
This video shows a series of bodycam clips from the Fairmont
Police Department leading up to and during the arrest of Olympic
gold medalist Mary Lou Retton-Kelly on May 17, 2025
LINK:
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMkk3SpQ6Yc
Side Comment: This is a very sad day and we urge Mary Lou Retton
to please seek help. I include this news as a reminder
alcoholism is also a serious illness behavioral-wise and medical
-wise.Alcohol can be a problem amongst athletes. Alcoholism is
indeed an illness and Drug abuse a continual challenge for many
famous athletes and we should not turn a blind eye to these
problems. Mary Lou Retton-Kelly was lucky she didn't kill
anybody behind the wheel and has an opportunity to turn her life
around and should take it.
A further point in case There are many ways alcoholism
contributes to illnesses and injury and it is probably wide
spread as social drinking also reduces inhibitions in people at
gatherings which in turn has probably led to increase in covid
outbreaks.
Condolences to all those affected by alcohol and drug abuse
related issues as these issues involved have a bearing on the
welfare of the families, friends, and members of society.
I used to struggle with alcohol and while I appear unscathed by
my bouts with alcohol, I still am aware firsthand how dangerous,
insidious, and cruel alcohol and drugs can be. Ive been straight
for many years now and have a clarity, control, and peace of
mind I wouldn't give up sobriety for the world,
The Masked Man
P.S. here's a follow up story:
