We need to take more measures not less after four and a half yea
rs of mutant virus consistently mutating

Whenever things get worse they just come out with a quick easy
fix called the vaccine.. in four and a half years and after many
variants that evade previous vaccination they(the typical news )
never advise us to change our behavior or wear masks. We should
do more not less when things get worse. We are ignoring two
crucial things : one is declaring the truly preventative
measures such as behavior modification and mask wearing
including mask education and practical masking strategies and
the other thing is long covid … covid and long covid isn’t
prevented by vaccines therefore or we can only expect a new
variant to come along soon .. long covid can occur in people who
have mild or even no symptoms and long covid isn’t easily
diagnosed or shows up in wastewater tests and theoretically the
amount of long covid victims could pile up cases overlapping
astronomically every four months so that after a year you’ve got
an enormous ratio of long covid people useless burden to
themselves and others. Even if people’s immunity grows stronger,
time after time (four and a half years now)new variants keep
coming along and if they keep forming at the rate they’ve been
coming it just means more covid and more long covid for
       everybody.
       Personally I’m a mask pusher,
I have a pet peeve in that it is admitted vaccines do not
prevent the disease so I really get upset at people who take
vaccines but don’t mask up .. because contradiction in behavior
and willingness to take a vaccine but not wear a mask for a
mutating disease, I can’t help but believe vaccines can give a
false sense of security for people to go maskless .. if vaccines
don’t prevent long covid nor the spread of covid then that’s
seriously bad in the long run. The rate of long covid victims
will accumulate with every new major variant which appears like
four times a year average.. the long covid victims will grow and
grow. If you don’t prevent covid then you are spreading it.
What is the likelihood of a new variant coming out just about
the time everybody gets the latest booster/vaccine?
If you really want to prevent the next variant, I urge loved
ones and contacts to wear the mask if you are willing to take a
shot for the very same reasons,
       The Masked Man
P.s while I am a mere layperson on the subject, remember Fauci ,
Biden and many other internal medicine advocates have all caught
Covid and therefore spread covid numerous times to many others
whereas I the Masked Man have not caught covid or any airborne
contagious diseases in four and half years straight with my
       practices.
Never forget the catcher of covid is always the passer or giver
as well! You might be able to live with covid but can you live
with having given it to so many others!?

I would not consider that the creation of mRNA vaccines were a
quick fix; The underlying science behind mRNA vaccines goes back
decades. We should be thankful that the technology to create
mRNA vaccines had matured to a point where it could be useful
       for this particular situation.

I must agree that wearing masks (and, in this application, N95
or equivalent) has been highly beneficial in limiting the risk
of exposure to Covid and other airborne-based viruses. I
completely endorse their use beyond our current situation
concerning Covid. As our population increases and as our
population density increases, we must be mindful that our
actions (or lack of actions) have consequences. Mitigating such
viruses with masking is a strategy that every population ought
to take for a variety of reasons, including social and economic.

My understanding is that the vaccines were never intent on
limiting spread but only reducing the degree of which someone
suffers from Covid once they were infected. A combination of
masking, vaccination and behavior modification (such as avoiding
large crowds when possible) is the best-known strategy for
limiting the spread of any airborne-based virus, Covid or
       otherwise.

No one knows when the next prominent Covid variant will emerge
or exactly why. This uncertainty makes taking the precautions
that are available to us that much more important. We have seen
so far that Covid continues to progress and our vigilance needs
to continue until the mortality numbers are so low as to be
       indistinguishable from random occurrence.
