       The WHO declares Mpox a public health emergency of international
        concern

       SUMMARY - The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the
       Mpox (formerly known as "Monkeypox") outbreak on the continent
       of Africa a public health emergency of international concern.
       The Democratic Republic of Congo (not to be confused with the
       Republic of Congo) along with nearby countries are experiencing
       outbreaks of the illness at this time. Part of the concern by
       countries and organizations is that the current strain of Mpox
       is considered deadlier and more contagious than previous
       strains.
