       Nipah Virus - India - 2024 Events

       TOPIC THEME - This shall be a repository for all news stories
       concerning the Nipah virus that occur in the country of India
       for the year 2024.
       SUMMARY - A 14-year old boy died Sunday (July 21, 2024) in the
       country of India as a result of being infected with the Nipah
       virus. The incident occurred in the state of Kerala. Officials
       are now searching for at least 60 people who are at high risk as
       a result of having possibly been in contact with the boy. One
       official, Dr. Anoop Kumar, is quoted as saying that there is a
       minimal risk of an outbreak of the disease at this time.

       SUMMARY - In the state of Kerala, eight more people have tested
       negative for the Nipah virus that killed a teenage boy earlier
       this week. Two more people are now in the hospital in order to
       receive treatments for symptoms of the disease, bringing the
       total of such people to eight. There is currently 472 people on
       the contact list who may have had contact with the deceased,
       with 220 of them being categorized as being at high risk of
       contracting it.
       NOTE - This article stated that the deceased was 15 years old
       while an earlier article stated that the age was 14. It is
       unknown why there is a discrepancy with the ages.
