       Scotland - 5,000+ cases so far in 2024 shatters 2012 record; One
        death so far

       SUMMARY - 5,270 cases of pertussis (commonly known as "whooping
       cough") have been confirmed in scotland up through July 15,
       2024, surpassing the entire number of cases for the last major
       outbreak of pertussis in the country, which was 2012 with 1,896
       cases. There has been one death during this latest outbreak
       which was an one-year old child.
