       Where to start?

I've been wanting to watch this show for quite awhile now since
it seems right up my alley - the question is: where to start?
There are so many Doctor's and seasons and series...
I hate starting a show in the middle, but it seems like this
show would be the exception because of the show's history.

This show would probably be the exception in that respect. I'd
recommend, as a modern viewer and such, watching from 2005 - now
and then going back and watching Old Who, once you get a good
feel for it :-\ others may disagree entirely though

I've had the same question for a while now.
I think I'll probably just start at the beginning. Starting in
the middle just seems odd to me, especially if older "doctors"
are mentioned at some point or if there are inside jokes about
the series that I might not understand. I've seen so much about
it on Tumblr that I probably know a lot of the newer storylines.

Propably from the start. I started watching when I was a kid
when it was on PBS with the 4th doctor. My brother got it off
Netflix and saw it from the begining up to before the third
doctor. He had just moved back from Wisconsin after working
there several years. He was home for a year then decided to go
back to shcool so he discontinued getting them. The last one he
got was the first serial of the 3rd Doctor. He assumed we had
watched and sent it back. But we hadn't. :(

For those that want to start at the begining need to know that a
lot of the episodes with the first two Doctors had been
destroyed or recorded over, Wikipedia has a good list of the
       lost episodes.

Interesting bit of information: Though the episodes are missing,
there are audio recordings, done by fans, for all of them.

Either from the start, or from the Ninth Doctor (Eccleston).

Thanks guys, I think I'll start at the 2005 series since those
are more accessible. If I really like it, I'll look into the
       older episodes.

Yeah, I would start with the 2005 season. That's where I started
and I was fine for the most part.
I cancelled my Netflix so I haven't seen anything recent, which
saddens me. I'll probably get on that soon though.

Same here - Netflix hitched its cost per month a while ago and
we cancelled, and unfortunately I streamed most of my shows
through Netflix. Now I wish I watched the 2005 series on Netflix
when I had it, because I know it was on there. I'll look into
other ways of watching it, will maybe buy it.

When I find time to watch it, I'll be sure to do so. I don't
know a single thing about the show (except that it involves time
travel) so I'm starting off completely fresh. I love finding new
shows that haven't been spoiled for me yet, so this'll be a fun
       experience.
