Yeah, I even said this on the True Blood board, so I'll just
copy and paste:
That really annoyed me as well. Seriously, it's not difficult
information to find out. Most Pagans would know the correct
pronunciation. Or anybody who speaks Gaelic...or is even
Scottish or Irish. I think most TV shows just pronounce it the
way it's spelled so dumb people don't get confused. It's the
only explanation I can think of.

What I just realized that makes this even funnier is
that...well, wouldn't Fiona Shaw have known this? I mean, did
nobody think to ask her? Really, that's not even research,
that's just common sense.

Samhain is pronounced Sow-en and it's a Pagan holiday, the
Witches New Year.
