What's the point on knowing who you add?

It's not like that stranger can steal anything... right? [uhoh]

Plus there's no way to communicate with each other.
I accepted a couple of people I don't know and just now I
accepted a friend request from someone who lives in Turkey and
       she/he has like 638 friends O.o

They can find out where you live and kill you, as far as I know.

There's no way they can know who you are unless you already know
them by their username. I think it's mostly for people to add
already-friends to it, and for people to be able to swap potions
ingredients and stuff. Don't worry about it.
Other than country, there's no real contact info.

I wasn't worrying, just wondering why Pottermore is like "please
make sure you know this person before adding them" probably a
message to the kids. Just me and my loony-ness :p

Yeah, I think you're right about that. Mainly for the younger
       kids.
