*****SPOILERS IF YOU'RE LOOKING IN RECENT POSTS*****
Just wanted to say I really am not happy with the
ending to this one as a fan of this character. I'd read rumours
of this change but was hoping they weren't true. At least he
went out a boss though...

Not happy about it, but it makes total sense. Can't
believe people are angry that he was even injured. Like yo a
group of enemies with close quarter combat weapons vs one dude
with a sword is not an even fight at all.
Things I Liked:
1. Selmy and Grey Worm kicking ass. It was awesome to see Ser
Grandfather finally get some action.
2. "You Know Nothing Jon Snow" Just as f'cking creepy as it was
in the books. Plus, the shout out to Ygritte was nice. Although
the nudity bit was unnecessary.
3. Stannis being an awesome Dad.
4. The Tourney of Harrenhal. I love when they do history
lessons/story time.

Just a great episode all in all. This season has really been
good so far!

Rewatching this episode I noticed it was probably the most overt
the TV show has ever been at hinting towards Jon's parentage and
I think all but confirmed R+L=J, with two scenes talking about
Lyanna and Rhaegar, and Stannis questioning Ned Stark getting a
tavern wench pregnant.
That Stannis and Shireen scene was really nice moment, they're
putting a surprising focus on her this season, and the greyscale
as well, it's making me think it's possibly going to play a
larger part in the series soon. I have a feeling we're gonna get
Tyrion/Jorah fighting Grey Men on a boat in a later episode
before they get to Daenerys.
I don't like what they're doing with Dorne this season, Ellaria
and the Sand Snakes are one-note revenge fuelled villains so
far, and I don't like that they're all willing to torture an
innocent girl just to get back at the Lannisters. The Dornish
storyline in the books obviously wasn't perfect either, but at
least it had multiple characters with less overtly cruel and
vindictive intentions. The Dorne storyline and the Sansa in
Winterfell storylines are the two I'm most wary about so far,
but I'm willing to let them play out and hopefully they won't
fly too far off the rails by the end of the season.
I'm disappointed in Melisandre's character this season too, and
the fact that she's not staying at the Wall is lame. Her
chapters were interesting in ADWD and gave her so much more
depth and nuance, it's a shame the show has reduced her to
"religious zealot who likes to **** kings".
And so we've finally caught up to the end of the leaked
episodes. I regret my decision to watch them all when they
released, this has been a long month with no new episodes...

I really liked the scene with Shereen and Stannis. It was sweet
in a way this show rarely is. Might be one of my favorite scenes
of the show.
I was watching the episode with my boyfriend who stopped reading
after the third book (not that it matters much at this point)
and he was super stoked when we realized Selmy was going to
fight, which was fun. Not that I wasn't excited but he was like
really into it. And since the show is diverting from the books
we were both very concerned at the ending.

To be fair the Sand Snakes were pretty much the same thing in
the book...I don't think that scene was handled well and it
looks like they cut a good deal from that scene out, so we will
probably get a deleted scene. I wish there was more focus on
Doran, but I will wait and see what happens.
Yeah they pretty much have made Melisandre the female version of
Loras. But she did a good job delivering that line.
So I am pretty much convinced that Jon and Sansa are gonna get
together. I think the show has been moving that direction and I
think its gonna happen in the books as well.

The final scene was such nonsense. Why was Grey Worm wandering
about in the streets with like six people? Why was Barristan
suddenly wandering about alone? The fight was also not that well
directed either. It was just such a random and stupid scene.
Apart from that the episode was fine if a bit overstuffed.
Weakest episode of the season so far.

My admiration for Jon has actually increased this season. First
he rejected Stannis' offer, then last week he executed Janos
Slynt like a boss and this time, he's probably the only guy who
didn't give into Melisandre's charms (something where even the
great Stannis failed). I haven't read the books but I gotta say,
the boy has definitely grown a pair and now I'm kinda looking
forward to his storyline.
