Season 5 Episode 1 Discussion

Thought I'd make 4 topics now for those who cave and watch the
links and want to discuss them.
I wasn't going to watch them all, but after watching the first
I've decided I will but will still watch them again in HD when
they actually air.
I thought this was a solid premiere, nothing too interesting to
discuss but very promising direction for the rest of the season.
The show has a different energy this year and every scene is
solid and engaging to watch.
SPOILERS
[spoiler]Do you think they've dropped the fake Mance plot? His
death was surprisingly mellow and anticlimactic in the show, I
expected louder screams before Jon shot him.[/spoiler]

A solid start. I think it definitely sets the tone and direction
for the rest of the Season.
1. Kit Harington, Stephen Dillane, and Liam Cunningham scenes
are something I am definitely looking forward to.
2. Sophie Turner seems primed for a very large role this season
which should be nice.
3. The Cersei Flashback was well done and I hope it gives them
more confidence to do a few more...*Cough* Tower of Joy *Cough*.
[Spoiler]I'm almost positive they dropped the Fake Mance Plot. I
think Jon shot him before the flames and heat got to Mance.
Also, Jon's coup de grace definitely is going to garner some
respect from the Wildlings. [/Spoiler]

I decided not to watch the leaked episodes. It would suck having
to wait a month to watch a new episode after having waited this
long for the season and the show deserves to be watched in great
quality.
Haven't watched the first episode yet as I still need to rewatch
the last couple of episodes of season 4 and I'm so psyched!

I admire your restraint. I decided to give in and watch them, I
decided I will still have the satisfaction of seeing the "true"
version once the 1080p episodes are released at their normal
time.

That's true. I might cave in, in the next few days after having
seen the first episode.
I though the episode were decent. Not a lot happened and most
were just to set up the rest of the season but still a fine
start.

Stannis and Jon were the best parts of ADWD for me. Seems like
they are right on schedule for Dany's slipper slope. Also, wtf
with Cersei's flashback? Are they going to show her killing that
girl? Or D&D white washing again?
