Has to be fake. A lightsaber, and definitely not a hand, could
not have survived the atmosphere. That is way up there on the
bad science scale. It sounds like something a retarded fan would
come up with -- like the writer of the article. This sounds to
me like pure speculation, and very bad speculation at that.
And NO WAY would Han and Leia have fallen out of touch with Luke
for 30 years.

The hand that they're talking about is most likely Luke's robot
hand that was cut off after he got the new lightsaber and NOT
the one from Empire Strikes Back. The robot hand surviving in
space makes sense.
Not that it sounds any better.
And I know people hate Faraci but as far as I know he's been
pretty good with insider scoops and such so this plot is likely
legitimate.
