I've realised that I don't really care if the show takes over th
e books.

After seeing what they did with Sansa's storyline last episode
(f'ck yes!) I realised they had pretty much jumped her character
past her AFFC/ADWD progression and (I assume) into her tWoW
storyline, and I didn't mind at all. It might have felt a little
rushed and on the nose when she had her 'turn to the dark side'
walk down the staircase, but it felt earned enough for Sansa to
finally have her badass moment that I didn't mind that they
basically destroyed her entire arc from the next two books, and
I'm really excited to see what they do with her storyline next
season.
It made me realise that the show has already become such a
different entity than the books, that I'm happy for them to take
whatever liberties they want with the storyline in the next
season, chopping and changing whatever they feel is necessary
from the bloat of AFFC/ADWD to make it flow well on TV. I trust
the showrunners enough that they can make it satisfying in a
different way to the books. They obviously have their misteps,
but on the whole I agree with most of their adaptation choices
and as long as they keep the major moments intact then I'm more
than happy to see the show take its own path to get to a
(hopefully) satisfying ending.
I do hope that GRR Martin has TWOW out before the next season
airs, because there will definitely be characters who overtake
the books next season, but if he doesn't then so be it, the show
can do it's own thing and the book will be different enough
anyway that it will still be satisfying to read after the show.

I'd love to see GRRM finish the books before the TV Series
concludes, but thats just not that likely to happen. I love the
show and won't throw a fit when it eventually passes the books.
I sorta look forward to it because I will have the answers to
many of my questions way before the books are released.
Regarding Sansa, I don't think it 'ruined' her arc. I'm
predicting that next Season Sansa, Robin, and LF tour the Vale
together. Along the way we find out about Robin's poor health
and LF introduces a 'new' plan(Harry the Heir). Did the show
reveal that she will become a 'player' earlier than the books?
Sure, but she still needs to learn of LF's betrayal of her
family. Also, In the episode we learn a few things about Sansa.
First, we learn that she has learnt to lie. She told enough
truths about Lysa that her story was believable. Second, Sansa
recognizes LF/PedoFinger's desire for her. Third, in her
testimony Sansa cleverly included "He is my Uncle by Marriage"
so LF will definitely not be able to publicly make advances
toward Sansa.

I originally thought I would stop watching the show after about
season 5 but now I'm just gonna go ahead and watch it simply
because it's impossible to escape spoilers: it's actually
something that's been really annoying me, people just casually
posting spoilers on every video, comment feed, Facebook, you
name it. I have read the books so it's not a big problem for me
at the moment (though I can't imagine how many people have
actually been badly spoiled) but once the show moves past the
books, it's gonna be tough, so what the hell, I'll continue
watching.

^This. I've read all the books in the ASOIAF Universe and am not
going to allow someone on facebook, twitter, or even someone at
the store spoil me. I would much rather watch the show than be
spoiled online or in person. Also, I will definitely enjoy the
moment where show watchers can make fun of 'purists'.
