GoT S4 E1: Two Swords(Cover your spoilers)

A decent first episode. Definitely had some highs and lows.
Really love all the little details.
-I shed a tear when Tywin melted down Ice. RIP Ned. The Dornish
greeting was great. Oberyn Martell being f'cking awesome. Nuff
said.
The little tidbit about Rhaegar running off with
another woman. About time we start to here this backstory.
-Interesting to see Cersei picking up one of Robert's notorious
habits(drinking).
Pretty sure that was Cersei's spy that was
eavesdropping on Shae and Tyrion.
-The Thenn's were pretty damn intimidating. Tormund's "I f'cking
hate Thenns" made me chuckle. Jon's got some serious feels.
Janos Slynt, Alliser Thorne, and Aemon judging over Jon was a
good scene. Loved Jon insulting Janos with the "You must not
have been good at it" line.
-This show does a great job with easter eggs. The Sigils of
Dorne, the White Book(King's Guard Book), Arthur Dayne, and Sir
Duncan the Tall!
Mayhaps a sighting of a certain necklace/hairnet.
-Arya and the Hound kicking ass at the Inn. Gotta appreciate her
making Poliver remember his lines...PS: F'ck that statue of
Joffrey standing over a Direwolf.

I'm probably gonna be alone on this but I see nothing "bad ass"
about Arya (not even in the books)... her scene, if anything,
was disturbing to me and I thought it was filmed well, but then
we see the Hound and her ride off on horses with the GoT theme
playing in the background and I just couldn't get into it.
Outside of that, I liked the opening scenes with the sword being
forged and everything. I'm not sure how I feel about the Ser
Dontos plot because I think they really should have done this
last season instead of
having Littlefinger constantly
talking to Sansa about wanting to take her to the
Vale.
Still, we'll see how it goes. Shae was only
slightly annoying in this episode so that was a big improvement.
I don't like the new Daario though. He's too... plain. I did,
however, like the fact that they kept in the Kingsguard book.
One thing I'm unsure of though is exactly how many wildlings
went over the wall with Jon and Ygritte last season? I didn't
think there were many but in this episode there were quite a
few.
Overall, I thought it was a fine "catch up" episode.

Arya is definitely disturbing. I just thought it was sweet how
two people(Hound and Arya, mostly the Hound though) cleaned out
the Inn of the Mountain's Men(monsters in their own right). Arya
is definitely one of those characters that you feel so much for
even as she's descending down a dark path.
In Season 3 around 20 wildlings went over the Wall(including
Ygritte, Jon, and Tormund).

What I found really great about this episode was it's pacing,
every scene seemed to go for just the right amount of time and
nothing felt rushed or shoehorned in. This really shows how much
everyone who makes this show has improved and they know exactly
how to handle each scene.
- They get taken for granted but I'm still so impressed with how
great the dragons on this show, the CGI is almost flawless
- I was really impressed with how much weight they gave the
scene of Tywin melting down Ice, I was wondering how they were
going to make non-book readers realise the importance of what
was happening, but ending the 'previously on' with the shots of
Ice was the perfect way to get the point across. Even my brother
who is the most casual watcher of the show understood that it
was a big deal, although I think throwing the dead wolf on the
smelter was almost overkill on the symbolism.
- Oberyn (and Ellaria) are f'cking perfect, I'm really looking
forward to seeing them interact with everyone at King's Landing
throughout the season.
Next episode is going to be huge,
it's gonna be a
different show after Joffrey's gone, everything in King's
Landing this season and Sansa's journey are what I'm most
looking forward to seeing
I think it did what it needed to do: Set up Oberyn, tease
Meereen a little, reconnect, give some needed exposition. I
loved the easter eggs in the Kingsguard book. Would have been
cool to explain that Ned killed Arthur, though. I see the
hairnet is now a necklace. Fine. Oberyn and Ellaria were both
fantastic casting. I figured Oberyn would be the entry point for
Sack details, and I was right.
It's taking everything to not spoil next week for my show-only
friends. People will go wild.

Yep! Especially, with the Premiere being a record for Game of
Thrones ratings(6.6 million I think). Not surprising at all that
HBO renewed Game of Thrones for Season 5&6 recently.
