Idk, I'm not a real big Marvel fan but that looks kinda cool?
Better than what I was expecting.

I don't know. MCU has started saturating IMO. Guardians is very
obscure to the general public, so I don't see what's the point
of making a movie for it, other than to set up for Avengers 2.

It won't have anything to do with Avengers 2. Marvel's playing
the long game and setting up for Avengers 3. And in general, I
applaud them for taking such a massive risk on such a
little-known property, even amongst comic book readers. The
trailer wasn't the end-all-be-all of trailers, but the source
material is fantastic and Slither and Super have taught me to
have faith in James Gunn. This trailer is just to introduce the
characters, and I'm certain the later trailers and the movie
       will be better.

Those two movies actually taught me NOT to have faith in James
Gunn. Slither was forgettable beyond the gross-out bits, and
same goes for Super, which was just bad. That's why I'm "meh" on
it. Plus, the "funny" bits seem forced like Thor.

This is the only Marvel title I'm looking forward to. I started
reading the comics over the summer and got really into them (got
a neat little alternate covers collection going of it's current
incarnation). I think that it could go either way, this is
definitely going to be (has to be really) different than the
more mainstream Marvel releases. If they keep the edge the
comics have I can see it working as a movie but I don't see it
appealing to the broad audience that something like Captain
       America has.
I honestly think the movie's success hinges on whether or not
Rocket Raccoon is successful because that's either going to be
totally awesome or Howard the Duck levels of wrong.

Well, I guess they just weren't for you. Pretty much everyone
else I know of who has seen them loves them.

I know a couple of people who really like those movies and
they're kinda stupid. Not because they liked those movies
(didn't want to give off that impression) but they are big fans
of those awful B-movies that attained cult status over the
years. That probably makes me sound like a snob but whatever,
half the people here are bigger snobs anyway.

I have high hopes for this movie. I haven't read the comics
before, but everything I've read about it has me very
interested. I'm not worried about the trailer seeming too
light-hearted, they need to make the movie seem as appealing as
possible so it's not surprising they'd make it look more
comedic. That said, the movie has a character called fucking
Rocket Raccoon, having no humour in this movie with characters
like this would just be weird.
