Speaking of which, people have already begun complaining saying
Tarzan should be someone bigger and such, like Jason Momoa, and
that Alexander Skarsgard is totally wrong for the role...

So I found this lengthy blog post explaining that this film is
possibly based around the Congo Free State genocide under the
rule of King Leopold II of Belgium. We already know Christoph
Waltz is playing a character called "Captain Rom" and Samuel L.
Jackson is playing a character called "George Washington
Williams." These are both apparently real people described in
Adam Hochschild's 1998 book, "King Leopold's Ghost." I have no
interest in Tarzan in general and I was only really interested
in this movie because of Yates, but this now sounds interesting:

Putting Tarzan in that context sounds really interesting and I
hope it's true. The European colonization of Africa was such an
important thing in history that I feel is often glossed over (at
least here), despite the fact that it basically shaped how
Africa is today and caused most of the civil wars/violence going
on there to this day. Besides Hotel Rwanda, it hasn't really
been represented recently in Western film, so this sounds
interesting.

Yeah, Christoph Waltz especially has been rather secretive about
his character, just in a recent interview he said he can't say
anything about his character and said "go see the film," so it's
likely true.
I know David Yates said that they actually had two different
scripts, one of which was a more straightforward
action/adventure script, the other more character-driven, and
apparently he combined both of those scripts for this movie, so
we'll have to see.
The first set pics we saw also had one African/Congolese person
in a cage so again this is probably what this movie is going to
be about:

Looks like they'll be combining fact with fiction here.
