All except Russell deserve to be there. Scorsese brings a crazy
style to Wolf befitting it's tone, and even with the overlong
running time, it's never boring (for me, anyway); Greengrass is
great with suspense and drama, fitting for Captain Phillips;
McQueen made a powerfully effective film on slavery that sticks
in the minds of most people who saw 12YAS; and Cuaron, needless
to say, gave us one of the year's biggest (if not THE biggest)
visual treats with Gravity. Russell has no unique vision or
style and his films all (or at least, the last three that I have
seen) seem to be carried by his actors. Fuck that guy.

It's gonna be a toss-up between Greengrass and McQueen. I'm
kinda inclined towards McQueen.
Same goes for the Best Director Oscar.
