J.K Rowling's new novel under pseudonym
By: Loony_Gaby Date: July 13, 2013, 7:12 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Turns out she had a new novel released back in April under the
name of Robert Galbraith. Its called The Cuckoo's Calling. Wow.
I understand that she wanted some freedom but people would know
eventually. But at least she got good reviews for the story
itself and not for being J.K Rowling.
When approached this weekend, Miss Rowling said: “I had
hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert
Galbraith has been such a liberating experience. It has been
wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure
pleasure to get feedback under a different name.”The book is
described as “a gripping, elegant mystery steeped in the
atmosphere of London - from the hushed streets of Mayfair to the
backstreet pubs of the East End to the bustle of Soho.”
Plot:
After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan,
Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator.
Strike is down to one client, and creditors are calling. He has
also just oken up with his longtime girlfriend and is living in
his office. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an
amazing story: His sister, thelegendary supermodel Lula Landry,
known to her friends as the Cuckoo, famously fell to her death a
few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John
refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world
of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and
desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of
pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.You
may think you know detectives, but you've never met one quite
like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and
famous, but you've never seen them under an investigation like
this.
Wasn't she rumored to be writing a crime novel back around 08 or
07? I guess this explains that! Also, a mysterious falling death
ruled a suicide but foul play suspected? SHERLOCK

I had not heard the rumors but I guess she did have loads of
writing to do after finishing HP. And yes the plot of this one
makes it sound better than The Casual Vacancy.

I'm reading it now and it's pretty good. It helps that I like
detective stories though. There's nothing particularly special
about it, but it's very solid and well-written.

I'm waiting for it to be available on Amazon. It's out of stock
at the moment.
I thought of waiting for a lower price, but that could take a
while. Then I wouldn't have time to read it once I started
school in August.

I just walked into a Books-A-Million and it was there sitting on
the fiction shelf. Guess no one in Sebring is an insane Rowling
fan.

Wow considering the intense media scrutiny on famous authors
these days, I'm surprised this managed to be a secret for this
long.

Looks like this will have a sequel. J.K Rowling's statement on
her FB page:
"I hoped to keep this secret a little longer, because being
Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience! It has
been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure
pleasure to get feedback from publishers and readers under a
different name.
The upside of being rumbled is that I can publicly thank my
editor David Shelley, who has been a true partner in crime, all
those people at Little, Brown who have been working so hard on
The Cuckoo’s Calling without realising that I wrote it, and the
writers and reviewers, both in the newspapers and online, who
have been so generous to the novel. And to those who have asked
for a sequel, Robert fully intends to keep writing the series,
although he will probably continue to turn down personal
appearances."

I'm glad that it's getting good reviews for the actual heart of
the story, and not just because "JKR wrote it".
