Getting back into the series - rewatched this the other night

I'm surprised at how much nostalgia I have attached to this
movie, I think it's the only thing that keeps it enjoyable
because to be honest the movie is, I don't want to say bland,
but it's just a very robotic adaptation. There's no visual or
cinematic flair that makes the later films (particular 3, 6 and
7) so rewatchable and enjoyable, and there's a lot of cheesy
moments that hurt the film.
However there are some good moments, the scene with Ollivander
is still one of my favourites in the entire series, it's the
only scene in the movie which completely holds my attention.
Now that I've seen Game of Thrones and seen what awesome stuff
they can do with a TV adaptation I really want a Harry Potter TV
series, but then I think they will never find actors so perfect
for so many of the roles and the music and everything else is
too perfect to change.

I'm a little 'iffy' on a TV series. I'm worried that they'd take
the nostalgic cheese of the first movie and turn it all the way
up so it's 'unbearable' cheese and just cringe-worthy.
Plus there's the issues with finding actors and composing music,
as you said.
