If this is to be a discussion thread, I suggest in parenthesis
the OP title should be "What. the. fuck. (The Doctor's Name)"
Got a nice ring to it.
Anyway, loved the episode, I knew Moffat was going to deliver
and make up for what was a weak second half of the season.

My friend and I had a theory John Hurt was going to be some form
of the Doctor after he was rumoured for the 50th but we assumed
a future one rather than 12, which is what it seems to be,
either that or he's...0? [spoiler]I have heard rumours that he
is actually 9 that Eccleston's Doctor onwards 'forgot' for some
reason and it will be explained in the 50th[/spoiler]
It's going to be interesting to see how it's done and I'm a big
fan of John Hurt.
I was pleasantly surprised by this episode actually, they
handled Clara's storyline well and River was really well done
too. Looks like the 50th's going to be a crazy one.

Yeah, the two theories I've heard was that he [spoiler]was
McGann, who we never saw regenerate so he could have grown old
and been recast as Hurt, and another that he's the 9th
regeneration, and that line "What he did he didn't do in the
name of the Doctor" or whatever it was he said could be setting
up that they don't include him in the "official count" because
he did something horrible to end the Time War. So he'd be "him",
but wouldn't be "The Doctor" because he gave up/lost that name
when he did whatever he did.[/spoiler]

Have you got a source for that? Because Eccleston and Hurt are
so dissimilar that really wouldn't make sense :\ a lot of people
are calling him [spoiler] the 'forgotten' 9th [/spoiler]
