       What do you prefer?

Superhero movie franchises that that have entirely new villains
each movie (Spider-man, Iron Man) or franchises that keep one
major villain and add or change secondary villains (X-men, Thor)
I prefer the latter. I rather like the idea of a "Big Bad" or a
villain that has a continuing relationship with the hero(es). I
wish Man of Steel could have gotten someone to finally portray
Lex Luthor correctly, so we could have had him in this role and
       not be a joke.

Same. The problem with a different villain each time is that you
know that the hero's going to defeat the bad guy — there's no
intrigue or surprise. Whereas when you have villains that can go
both ways, like Magneto or Loki, the story seems much less
predictable and you're kept on your toes to see how they'll end
       up.

I do prefer the second option too, but only if the main villain
is interesting and you don't feel cheated when he never gets
ultimately defeated. Magneto is probably my favourite character
in the X-Men series, he has more depth than most of the actual
X-Men and his relationship with Xavier is a really great part of
       the series.
I think the Iron Man films might have benefited by giving Tony
an arch-nemesis similar to the Xavier/Charles dynamic. His
movies feel a bit hollow as they are, enjoyable of course, but
not as memorable as other Marvel movies IMO.
