Seth MacFarlane: Yay or Nay?

While I enjoyed some of his jokes, most of them fell flat
(something about DDL going to rescue Don Cheadle) and some were
downright cringeworthy (We Saw Your Boobs). One of the weakest
Oscar hosting of recent times, though not as bad as the
Hathaway/Franco fiasco of 2011.
Shatner was correct in predicting that it will be a disaster.

I thought it was worse than Hathaway/Franco.
The only things I liked were the Sound of Music gag, the sock
puppets, and Dan Rad prancing around on stage with JGL.

Yeah it's like the Academy tried too hard to be hip or funny or
whatever. I also cringed when Halle Berry said "pussy galore"
when she presented the Bond tribute. EDIT: Oh and Ted's
presenting. Ugh.

Nay. It was too low brow for the Academy and other than DanRad,
JGL, and Captain Kirk it was awful. The opening monologue was
thirty minutes long, it looked like everyone in the room was
uncomfortable. His boobs song and then the loser song at the end
were so bad. The great parts of last night had little to do with
him, the tribute to musicals and the so inappropriate but so
funny Jaws play offs.

I thought he was okay. I thought Anne Hathaway and James Franco
were better though (who'd have thought anyone would say that?).
He could have chopped that opening monologue in half though. Why
couldn't he just do a couple jokes, then the dance, then start
the show? It just dragged on and on and on...

The ratings were the highest they've been in six years. I hope
this means they don't ask him back. I think the uptick in
ratings had more to do with the accessibility of the BP noms
this year and people probably felt more compelled to tune into a
show that they had a vested interest in.

I know for me, the only reason I tuned in was to see all the
musical numbers. I hope they continue that tradition.

Sorry, I meant to hit reply and accidentally edited your post,
but its fixed!
I don't know if I'd watch next year if he were the host.

I thought it was okay. Like Dana, I loved the Sound of Music,
sock puppet Flight, and JGL and Dan dancing. So cool.
While I didn't like the Chris Brown/Rihanna joke, I thought it
was hilarious that Robert Downey Jr. was the only one to visibly
clap.
