       Affleck wins the DGA

Third time it's gone to a non-Oscar nominee, apparently.
So Argo won Best Picture and Best Director at the Globes and
scored the PGA, SAG and DGA hat trick. Think it's safe to say
that it'll probably win Best Picture unless Lincoln just sweeps
(ugh). So yet again I ask: How in the hell did Affleck not get a
Best Director nomination? Like at this point it almost has to be
a case of, "Everyone's voting for Affleck so I'll vote for the
Amour guy." That is the only thing that makes sense!

Yeah I have no idea how that happened, but it definitely keeps
       things interesting.
And I'm thinking Argo is definitely the front runner at this
       point.

       Whatever happens, I really don't want a Picture-Director split
as most people are predicting. Whichever film wins Best Picture
       should ideally win Best Director.

At this point I highly doubt that Picture/Director match up. The
question is, who gets Director when Argo picks up picture.

Not really. Since there are more BP nominees than Director
nominees it splits the vote differently, plus the way the
Academy voting is it's entirely possible for a film that had
mostly second place votes to beat out a film that had mostly
       first place votes.
1941: Rebecca wins BP, Hitchcock loses to John Ford for best
       director.

Well yeah, I know all that, that's why I said I don't want that
to happen and would be extremely disappointed if it does and
from the looks of it, I might as well prepare myself for some
       disappointment.
I think the director still goes to either Spielberg or Ang Lee
IF Argo wins BP. Haneke might be the dark horse. Don't see much
chances of Zeitlin or O'Russell winning.
Personally though I would love a Lincoln sweep. :P Except
cinematography - that has to go to Life of Pi.

I don't think Ang Lee is going to get it, I agree it's between
Spielberg and Haneke (and I'd actually like to see Haneke get
       it).
Yeah yeah yeah, I could not disagree with you more about Lincoln
but if it's going to win in any environment it would be the
       Oscars. :P

Haneke should not get it. His fans would get even more
       unbearable.
