forgot I have HBO on demand

Now I can watch Game of Thrones and get caught up before the
next season starts. At which book should I stop reading so I
won't spoil myself? Or does it even matter?

The next season is the first half of A Storm of Swords.
Although some pieces of the first half of A Storm of Swords was
actually included throughout the second season of Game of
Thrones. To be safe, I'd stop reading after you finish A Clash
of Kings...

If you want your reading to line up with the series, the first
two seasons are the first two books. The third season is roughly
the first half of the third book, and the fourth season is the
second half of the third book.
Although in all honesty just read the books however you want.
The show's great but the books are unreal.

The books are fantastic but, being one of those people that
always read the books before watching a film/tv adaptation, it
was actually refreshing to watch the first two seasons of a show
and not know wtf was going to happen. Since the second season I
have read the whole series though so I kinda ruined all that for
myself again lol but I couldn't help myself. I hope the show
takes some liberties, like completely altering the RW. A guy
can dream right!

I do love the show, but the books have so many layers of
foreshadowing, symbolism, etc. that it's mind-boggling. I've
read the books like three or four times each and I've read
certain passages as many as 10-15 times and I STILL find new
stuff I hadn't noticed before.
Have you figured out who Jon's real parents are? That's my
litmus test to see if people have actually been paying
attention. :P

I honestly don't know but I've always hoped it was Robert
Baratheon and Leanna? Did I pass or fail? Shit I'm scared now
lol

As Hermes said each time you read the books you find something
new. I've read each book 3 or 4 times and I still find new
things here and there.
Also, if you go you research fan theories on reddit or Tower of
The Hand you are bound to see more and more evidence supporting
them. Thats another great thing about the books, there are so
many theories that you can support. I just picked up on the
whole Southron Ambitions theory recently.

Shit, time to bail on this thread ;)
I took a break from reading since school started. I'm halfway
through the 4th book but still unaware of the Jon's parents
thing. Unless I'm misreading something.
Since asking if we are aware of Jon's real parents is a
spoiler in itself since after the 1st book, we only know that
Eddard and and woman named Wylla are his parents at that point
:P
Initials are right? Well I would imagine Leanna had to be right
considering its the only way Ned taking responsibility for Jon
makes sense. Now if Robert Baratheon is not correct then either
someone important with an RB or an R or a B? The only other R
that is important and makes some sense is Rhaegar. This would
be pretty sick especially if the whole Jon ends up with Dany
theory happens; Targaryens love keeping it in the family...
