Once again, Lincoln is the front runner.

Man, Bruce the Shark is on a roll! Having been nominated for
Best Director by the AMPAS last year for "War Horse," and now
it's a BAFTA, this time for "Lincoln," and maybe he could make
it two in a row come Oscar time! He's come a long way since
1975.

Going to say it again: Lincoln was good but not great and I
don't think it deserves all that it's getting. Tommy Lee Jones
for supporting is all I'd give it and even then ... meh. Picture
should go to Argo (or Zero Dark Thirty, which I'm seeing
Sunday), Affleck deserves Director, Phoenix should get Actor,
and anyone but Sally Field should get Supporting Actress. It
floors me that Spielberg has done better, more challenging films
(Munich comes to mind) that were either ignored or only given
cursory courtesy nominations, while people are drooling over
what amounts to a History Channel special on the 13th Amendment.
ETA: If she gets an Oscar nomination for The Master, it'll be
Amy Adams' fourth nomination without a win (assuming) in the
same category. Any more and she's getting into pre-Reader
Winslet/Julianne Moore territory.

I would say Lincoln is almost as good as Munich, and even if it
doesn't win, I think it certainly deserves whatever nominations
it gets (Munich should have won whatever it was nominated for)
and definitely needs a Best Director nom. I hope this isn't
gonna be the same with the AMPAS. He should have gotten one for
War Horse as well last year.
I think DDL and TLJ are the only two deserving of an acting nom
though. I don't know why some people have been mentioning James
Spader (eh?) and Sally Field (not bad, not good).

Not a very exciting year for animated films was it? Only 3
nominations and although I'd pick Brave over the other two it
was a bit disappointing coming from Pixar (although the
animation was stunning) but none of them were particularly
memorable.

I loved Lincoln a lot so I'm fine with anything it is nominated
for and anything it wins. Though I agree about Sally Field. She
wasn't anything special in that role.
