I can't make the Swelling Solution for the life of me

I've tried making it 4 times and the same thing happens each
time.
When I get to the second heating where you are supposed to heat
at low for 30 sec., as soon as I light the fire it tells me I
"failed to keep the temperature within range." I've never had
problems with the temperatures before and I've brewed a bunch of
potions in the book. I consider myself a perfectly adequate
potion maker.
I don't know what the heck is going on and I can't move on until
I brew it correctly. Has anyone else had this problem or have
any tips?

I still haven't finished Chamber of Secrets. I'm seriously
considering just holding off until they fix all the bugs, of
which there appear to be many.

I was able to move on without making any potions...
I'm not gonna spend a couple hours making potions, so I'll just
have to miss the Slytherin common room scene

I made it but don't know what I'm supposed to do with it. I just
skipped without making the potions.
