Okay, I'll admit it now... I ship H/Hr. One of my guilty
pleasures, and one that I've taken a lot of flack for through
the years.
And I don't really have a reason as to why I ship them - maybe
for fun. The same reasons as to why some people ship
Hermione/Draco - just for fun. I've never expected them to be
together, which sets me apart from the "delusionals" (a term
that I hate Spartz for ever coining since it's a term that I've
been unfairly labeled many times).
But by no means am I a Ron basher/hater. I hate when fanfic
authors paint Ron as a wife beater and alcoholic. I also ship
R/Hr, meaning that I also love the canon couples as well. I know
when to keep canon and fanon separately in mind ;)

See, that kind of thing is absolutely cool. Doing it for
harmless fanfic purposes, I get. But bashing Rowling's decisions
and/or painting Ron as a rapist is ... no.

It's not the Harmonians that are aggravating. It's the militant
Harmonians. The ones that character bash or the ones that go to
the point of taking it out on the actors. Or, like you guys are
saying, fully believe they know more about the characters or the
story than Rowling does.
Besides that, Heaven knows I'm a H/G fan. But there are some
good Draco/Ginny fics and Hermione/Fred and Hermione/George fics
out there. There, I admitted it.

Of all the non-canon Draco pairings, I think Draco/Ginny is the
most believable. I don't think he would EVER "stoop" to dating a
Muggle-born, but I think he could at least theoretically
reconcile himself to the fact that the Weasleys are
"blood-traitors" if he really, really liked Ginny.

I dunno, though. Even in canon, a lot of Draco's prejudices
were seemingly based on what his father had always ingrained in
him, and Draco clearly learned the hard way that his father was
frequently wrong and frequently did things that were
monumentally stupid. His dad basically almost got him
killed...repeatedly. That seems like something that could have
definitely opened up the possibility for some fundamental
changes in Draco once he ever had a chance to process any of it.
The fact that, by the end of the final battle, in both the movie
and the films, the Malfoys were like "screw it, I'm dying for
this shit"...

I just don't think he would date a Muggle-born though. As wrong
as he might realize his father is later, I think he would be too
proud to do that. Remember, he did end up marrying a pureblood,
so obviously that prejudice was too deeply ingrained for him to
change his mind about it.

Unfortunately, the militant/delusional H/Hr shippers gave the
rest of us sensible ones a bad name :P

Nah. We always knew you were a large and diverse group. lol.
Winter, you have a point on Draco marrying a pureblood.

My friend confessed to me the other day that she always hoped
Harry/Hermione would get together. Me: Um, sorry I don't think I
can be friends with you anymore. :)
Nah, but I was surprised, after reading how anti Harmonian
everyone here (on imdb) is I was automatically affronted on
principle.

It does kind of rub off on you, doesn't it. I have to be careful
not to assume that every Harmonian is a lunatic.
