       I watched The Avengers

It was fun. Haven't seen any of the other movies except Iron Man
(and that was several years ago) and I'll be honest, having
watched this film, I'm glad I didn't watch movies like Thor or
Captain America (both bland heroes played by even blander
actors). Hawkeye and Black Widow's inclusion seemed pointless
and I didn't really care much about them either. I mostly just
enjoyed Tony Stark and Bruce Banner (really liked Ruffalo here,
wouldn't mind seeing him in his own Hulk movie).
Though a bit sad looking at its box office... seems all you need
nowadays is a bunch of superheroes (not even all that popular
ones - at least, I wasn't aware guys like Captain America were
all that popular) and lots of action scenes and explosions and
THREE DIMENSIONS~! and your film will gross $1.5 billion
       worldwide. Hmm.
Still, it was well done, especially the action - I liked that
sequence shot near the end where it follows one hero after
another through the city fighting in mid air etc. Oh and the
"puny God" scene was just... I mean, I was choking from laughter
       there.
All in all, nothing really groundbreaking - unless you're only
gonna stick to that one fact that something like this, a big
superhero collection movie hasn't been done before. But it was
well worth the one watch. Don't know if I care for another
viewing or another film, but we'll see.

I watched it for the first time a couple days ago, and it was
brilliant. I am in your category, having not seen Captain
America or Thor, and it was still quite enjoyable.
Very awesome action movie. I loved the Iron Man movies, and
Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man was the one reason I really wanted
to see this movie. I was more than satisfied with it.
Also... I hate Hulk really, but he was so awesome in this
movie... the puny god scene was amazing and so hillarious.
Absolutely loved it. Also the part where Banner was in the
rubble of that warehouse... was funny as well.
Watching Iron Man and Thor battle was absolutely hysterical as
well. I laughed so hard when he got 400% power from Thor's
       hammer... so awesome.

I'm glad you liked it. Though I would have suggested that you
should have watched Captain America and Thor. While they don't
really contribute anything directly to the main storyline, it
would have provided you with a deeper insight on the characters
of Cap and Thor. Also, they explained why the rivalry between
Thor and Loki started in the first place and the significance of
       the Tesserect.
True it's nothing truly groundbreaking save for the fact that
such a thing has never been attempted in the genre before. Not
only did the sucess prompted future movies for Thor and Cap, but
it also has provided an impetus for DC to finally begin with the
       long awaited Justice League film.
