JKR interviewed by the New Yorker - Caity Weaver's take

My favorite Gawker columnist (Caity Weaver) wrote a summary of
the New Yorker interview, which is pretty funny:

That summary was pretty funny, the interviewer really did use
some odd phrases to describe JK and her mannerisms. I already
knew she's sort of shy and a bit cold in some of her interviews,
but I get that it's just because she's a very private person and
I respect that about her, I suppose the journalist just didn't
       appreciate it though.

I heard the New Yorker interview was kind of spoiler-y, so I've
been avoiding it because I'm spoiler-phobic. But I've been
reading all the little pieces about the New Yorker interview.
The ninth Key Point in the Gawker summary though.
       And yeah, she's a private person and she's a writer. I don't
know what people are expecting when they interview her. Its not
like she ever wanted to be some huge celebrity. And maybe she
wore a lot of makeup because she thought some pictures might be
taken. And I don't know why I feel such an intense need to
       defend her. Especially here.

For starters I think the Gawker article is poking fun at the
interviewer not necessarily Rowling. I read the New Yorker
article at work and it didn't have a ton of spoilers; and the
details it did have wouldn't spoil the plot. The interview
seemed like the first 3 pages was talking about The Casual
Vacancy and the following 7 were about why JKR is an anti-social
curmudgeon. The vibe I got from the article was that the
interviewer didn't seem to understand or like Rowling. I see
nothing wrong with her having control of interviews, especially
because she's a private person and she's very protective of her
work. She's not a movie star she doesn't need to have a public
       persona that matches anyone's expectations.
