A Town Called Mercy

What did you think?
I thought it was quite cool, but the preview for next week's
episode looks so much better - like there will actually be a
good over-arching plot rather than these warm-upish episodes
that (for me) have felt fun but a bit bland.

I liked it a lot better than Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.
I read in an interview w/ Moffat that all of season 7 is going
to be one offs without any major story arcs - which is kind of a
bummer. I think the only thing that's been a constant throughout
the first few episodes has been the flickering lights and the
mentions of Christmas.

I know up until Jenna they're all supposed to be like
'mini-movies' but I just feel they're a bit blah compared to how
epic Who can be. Which it can still be in episodes that don't
have major story arcs, but I don't think these are :\
I've found them enjoyable but nothing like as good as previous
series, sadly :(

The flickering lights are to present to not be something related
to the "Big Ponds" ending. It sounds like Weeping Angels, which
we all know if their final story. Also I was on the Tumblr just
tumbling around last night and I found this. I do not think it
is anything but it intrigued me.

Moffat said something small from the 11th Hour will be
important.

That is interesting, although it may just be a prop-box reuse,
you can never rule out tiny points like that in DW. Hmmmmm.

Agreed! I thought it was good (and had depth), but as
aforementioned it does feel, so far, episodic. I'm all about
arcs, but I'll keep watching.
If something clever ties everything together, I'll beam like
there's no tomorrow.

There was a gif set on tumblr of the flickering lights and the
Weeping Angels, so yes I agree that's pointing towards the
Angels in Manhattan episode.
I like that theory, but it isn't tragic, if anything it's
bittersweet because she gets to raise River all along. I don't
think Amy dies, I think Karen has been hinting that her
departure isn't death, but since someone has to die I'd say it's
gotta be Rory if only because he's on his 15th life or
something.
I saw something else on tumblr about how the Doctor isn't
travelling linearly in the Pond's life ... like he's going
backwards (this season) but we just don't know it yet. I'm not
sure how that all fits though.

I was thinking it might be the other way round, or something to
do with that, because Rory said to his dad he was 33, and when
he got married he was 22, and they keep mentioning aging and how
spaced out the Doctor's visits are (like why Amy can't keep a
job - she doesn't know when he's next going to turn up) and
maybe it's something like he doesn't want to just leave them
like he has other companions so he's actually staying with them
til the end, like he said to Amy this week.

Yes. A thousand times yes haha.

Gah, that's going to make their "tragic end" even more
depressing. I do think it's odd that Amy keeps commenting on how
much she's missed The Doctor and travelling but then repeatedly
asks to be taken home at the end of every episode. There has to
be something to the large gap we're missing... I forget if
anyone mentions how long it's been since the Doctor saw Amy and
Rory last in Asylum of the Daleks.

10 Months I wanna say? How old was Amy at the start of the 11th
Hour, meaning Kiss-o-Gram Amy, 18? It is two years later at the
end. Then is only a couple of hours between the beginning of
series 5 and the introduction of Rory. But the series ends with
their wedding correct. Then it is a couple of months at
Impossible Astronaut which takes place three months between that
and the moon episode. By the time Demons run happens it is a
full 9 months since sometime after Series 6 opener. Then at the
end of the christmas episode Amy said it had been two years
since they saw him last. WOW.....This prolly makes no sense, but
I was just trying to create all the time jumps in my head....
