Bonnie Wright

Making a new thread for her. Also the fact Snitchseeker posted
an interview with Freddie Stroma promoting his new film and he
talks about The Philosophers the film he did with Bonnie this
summer:
SnitchSeeker: You did the The Philosophers over the
summer with Bonnie Wright, can you tell us a little more about
that project?
Freddie: I’ve just been the last two months in Indonesia
shooting The Philosophers, which was a crazy experience shooting
at the various locations on the island – a volcano , tidepools –
and it was just absolutely gorgeous. Bonnie was awesome. It’s
not very often you can get to work with an actor again, which
was really cool. We had a great time, and hopefully we’ve done
it justice.
SnitchSeeker: Tell us more about your character.
Freddie: I play a guy called Jack, who is quite light-hearted.
He’s quite sporty, sort of a spunky type.
SnitchSeeker: You don’t end up hooking up with Bonnie’s
character, do you?
Freddie: No, no I don’t. (laughs)
SnitchSeeker: Do you get to interact with her character? Do you
get a lot of screen time together?
Freddie: We do. The film’s very ensemble. We’ve got twenty kids
in a class, a lot of the time we’re always all together, so it’s
a very ensemble piece. We’ll have a lot of scenes where we’re
all together. So yeah, we sure do.
SnitchSeeker: Do you play British characters for this one?
Freddie: In this one I’m playing British. We’re all different
internationals – people from all around the world: Australian,
English, American, Canadian.
SnitchSeeker: What’s the significance of having it filmed in
Indonesia?
Freddie: The director just really wanted to show some of the
beauty of Indonesia. It could have been shot anywhere, really,
for the concept. I think it was showing off some of the beauty
that Indonesia has to offer. The idea of having different
internationals – to have a lot of global cast from everywhere –
it didn’t have to be just one particular nationality, it
encompasses everyone.
SnitchSeeker: Bonnie mentioned that it turns into a
psychological thriller as the movie goes on.
Freddie: Yeah, it’s a philosophy class and we have different
scenarios where we have to talk about philosophical experiments,
then it does become this film with hidden agendas in the class
room and it becomes very interesting.
SnitchSeeker: Were there any challenges for you in that role?
Freddie: I think most of the challenge was sometimes shooting in
the heat, where it was incredibly hot, and trying not to sweat
into our costumes and towel down. And also a lot of it was very
ensemble. Somebody would have a line every so many days, so
you’d have to jump into that scene and sometimes if you’re not
prepared, you just do it out of context. So it’s, every day,
getting prepared if you might be part of the ensemble.
SnitchSeeker: What do you hope viewers will get out of watching
the film?
Freddie: I hope they learn a little bit about philosophy and a
little bit about themselves. And I guess maybe that it isn’t
random.

Another storyline for it on the IMDb page:
A brilliant philosophy teacher at an international school
in Jakarta manipulates his class of graduating seniors toward
academic excellence through the use of mind games, emotional
blackmail, and psychological assaults, stretching their brains
right up to the breaking point.
Any word on a wide-release date? I'm looking forward to seeing
her in something that isn't HP or the Replacements (although she
did excellent voicework in that hahaha).
PS: I hate Freddie's hair in those pics :-[

I think the biggest thing that makes me excited to see this is
that Bonnie described that character as outgoing. If that came
to fruition, I'm really anxious to see what that looks like.
That, since she specifically used the word "outspoken" I'm
assuming that implies real, actual lines. Maybe multiple ones
strung together in a row. It's a brave new world, baby!

Are you talking about... sentences? *does ... not ... understand
... what ... this ... means...*
It'll be like the Ginny that never was, and some crazy person
can just edit clips of The Philosophers into HP and we shall
call it canon.

LOL pretty much. :D
For the film, on IMDb they have the release date of August 6th
of next year but at their second press conference with the rest
of the cast back in August they're going for a May/June release
date:
t is slated to be released in May or June of next year.

I'm just excited by the prospect of seeing her with a character
that carries on a multi-sentence conversation with someone.
Anyone. I'm really hoping this movie will sort of show us what
her acting is really like.
I think the trick is gonna be it being a coming to a theater we
can actually get to. Given that it's an indy film, that may be
nontrivial. But I guess hopefully eventually it'll show up in
DVD or on Netflix if seeing it in a theater doesn't work out.
Don't get me wrong. I'm beyond thrilled she did this role. I
just think us getting to see it may not be straight forward just
because (where I live) you have to really keep tabs of things to
see when stuff flows through our cinema that has the arthouse
type films. It's usually months or a year or so after initial
release. Like, we got Black Swan and King's Speech eventually,
but it was maybe a month or two after everybody else and this
one's probably going to be more obscure than those (given that
both of those had huge name actors and had all sorts of Oscar
buzz)

Just going by what we know of the production....the studio is
definitely indy. Just starting out, this film is its second
major release. The budget on the other hand....it seems to be
quite middling. Even if Indonesia was dirt cheap to film in, the
hotels they stayed and the amount of cast and crew that had to
be flown into the country and even some of the special effects I
saw mentioned mean this is not an entirely independent budget.
The way the comments were being made during the press
conferences, it sounds like they'd be aiming for a wide release.
I could be eating my words this time next year....
Beyond just being able to see it, I'm estatic at the idea that
this character is not quiet like Ginny was. Lines ♥

Define wide release, though. There's films like Captain America
where most mainstream theaters get it eventually and then
there's films like Secret of Kells where most mid-sized towns
and up probably got it eventually, but it took a few months
after the original release date to sort of make the rounds so
you had to sort of know to watch for it or you'd miss it. And
then there's really obscure stuff where it may be a couple of
years before it ever comes around IF it ever comes around. I'm
hoping and guessing this will be of the Secret of Kells variety,
but I'm not sure.
Like, I don't ever expect to see this is stadium seating or in a
theater that offers stadium seating. I'm fully expecting to see
this in a theater that sells beer and has a sandwich place and
bar out front.

It is my deepest most secret (not really secret) desire to one
day own and operate my own independent theater with beer and
sandwich place (actually I want it to be a combo pizza/icecream
parlor and bar) and movie theater that just shows indies and
cult films.
Like... I want to show Rocky Horror once a month and go all out
with costumes and props.

The one we've got is really popular. They do kind of what
you're describing. They'll play different cult films and then
they do a foreign film series every year where they'll serve,
like, a themed wine to go with the country the movie's from.
It's a fun place.
That'd be awesome to see you get to do. I could totally see you
down front giving the pre-movie talks and stuff cracking jokes
and explaining the film before it starts.
