Is it possible to catch up by the 1st?

OK, yeah, I know it's impossible to watch literally every
episode by the 1st but is it possible to start at a reasonable
place and catch up in time for the 1st? I have all the time in
the world (can watch at work tomorrow sort of as well). Even if
it's not possible to catch up by the 1st where do you start
that's relatively recent as opposed to like forty years old?

The best place to start before the next season would be with the
11th and current doctor. His first episode is "The Eleventh
Hour".

So it's not necessary to watch the 9th doctor or the David
Tennant episodes?

Not necessary, but I'd definitely watch Tennant's run, even if
you just go back to do it later. He's just fantastic.

They're all on instant watch so I probably will do that. I got
sucked into an episode with the 9th doctor last week and I keep
seeing the previews for the new season on BBC America (which is
like my new favorite channel ... they always have great movies
on). However, that show Copper sounds so stupid.

Ok, I've devoted tonight and all day tomorrow to watching the
11th Doctor. I'm four episodes in and is the UST between Amy and
the Doctor intentional or am I reading too much into it?
I apologize if I'm being the most naive person in the world.
Also, I found that Dalek episode to be unbelievably cheesy.
Don't get em wrong, I love cheese, the whole show is so camp
it's right up my alley but a giant salt shaker with a plunger is
the most evil thing ever? ... THE FUCK?

If there is an episode that you need to watch from the earlier
seasons I would have to say the Silence in the Library episodes,
and Blink.

[/quote]The reason the Daleks are the most evil things ever is
that they want to destroy everything that isn't Dalek. It is
kind of hard to take them seriously because of the way they
look, but if you watch the 9th Doctor episodes "Bad Wolf" and
"The Parting of the Ways" and the 10th Doctor episodes "The
Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End", you'll see how evil they are.
The funny thing about the Daleks is that they were supposed to
be a one-time only enemy (from the second serial ever no less)
but they were so popular that they were brought back.

The thing is that the Daleks are so iconic. Everyone knows them.
That and the TARDIS are like immediately associated with Doctor
Who.
I personally started from the 9th Doctor and really enjoyed
everything with him and the 10th. But I'm mad behind. I've
barely seen anything with Matt Smith. There's just too much TV.
And I agree that you pretty much have to watch Blink because its
one of my favorite tv episodes of anything ever.

My plan is to catch up for tomorrow's premiere with the 11th
doctor and then go back and watch from the 9th on, if I get
really into it maybe I'll go all the way back to the series
beginning.
I like it a lot so far, and I feel like because of tumblr I
already know a lot of the characters. I know the daleks are
iconic, I just think it's hilarious that something that was
probably legit in the 60s hasn't changed much in the last 50
years. I mean, they are trashcans with plungers and they want to
eradicate everything that isn't them.... it's hilarious, and
it's hilarious to watch people try to seriously act with a
trashcan with a robot voice.
