Star Wars vs. Star Trek

I choose Trek.

So do I. I grew up watching Star Wars, and I do like it, but
it's more about all the special effects and action. Star Trek is
a bit more ... I dunno ... intelligent? The shows explore a lot
of themes and subjects that were touchy at the time (the first
interracial kiss on TV, the TOS episode on prejudice/racism with
the half-white, half-black guys, etc.).

Star Wars without a doubt. The characters are brilliant and the
story is amazing.
I never really cared for Star Trek. The story didn't appeal to
me as much as Star Wars did.

I've never seen any version of Star Trek so I'll have to say
Star Wars. I wish I still had the old recorded VHS versions of
the original Star Wars, I miss the untouched versions (I'm not a
raging fanboy about the minor changes though I only miss then
for the nostalgia)

That's hard. I definitely love Star Wars more but I agree that
Star Trek (more so the original run than it's various
reincarnations) was way ahead of it's time (also William
Shatner). And sue me but I love the JJ Abrams adaptation. That
shit is just straight up entertaining - it's far and away a
better watch than any of the SW prequels.
Star Wars is more of a space opera whereas Star Trek is more
nuanced with less broad strokes. They each have their merits.

I'd choose Trek because it is more story driven and imaginative.
I started watching it after the 2009 movie came out (which is
excellent btw) and I really enjoyed a few episodes especially
the Picard ones.
Wars is more entertainment focused, but the I found the story of
the OT rather weak.

Star Trek. Star Wars has better action but Star Trek has better
writing, story and characters. Sure Star Wars has Darth Vadar
and Yoda but Star Trek has Spock and that is where we wrap of
the thread.

Besides, Star Wars has like two really good movies. A New Hope
and Empire Strikes Back. Return of the Jedi had ewoks and that
destroyed the movie. The prequels were hit or miss. The worse
Star Trek had was The Final Frontier. That movie was
embarrassing. Did we really need to see Kirk, Bones and Spock
sing "Row, Row your boat"?
Clone Wars was forgettable, Star Trek owns Star Wars on TV. You
can bring up Enterprise but only if you actually watched a
season or two.

Final Frontier was weak but if you're talking about the overall
first 10 films then I'd say Generations and Nemesis were the
worst.
But the best Star Trek films: Khan, Voyage, First Contact - I
think they're all better than the best Star Wars movies though I
do enjoy the Star Wars movies as well. I didn't mind the Ewoks
actually - the one that got on my nerves was Jar Jar and all his
ilk, the Gungans or whatever. They are easily some of the most
obnoxious characters I've ever seen. Maybe that's what made me
feel the Ewoks weren't that bad...
Speaking of Star Trek on TV... how is Deep Space Nine? I've been
thinking about watching it but haven't felt compelled to do so
since I keep hearing a mixed reaction from most people.
