Dark Knight Rises Review/Thoughts/Discussion(Spoilers)
By: codyesh2 Date: July 20, 2012, 1:49 am

I loved it. Could not have ended the series better. Easily my
favorite superhero movie of all time.
Many reviews complained about the pacing, but I thought it was
good. They probably just wanted to see the Bat sooner.
I loved Talia. I am a huge sucker for any League of Shadows
stuff and to include Talia was awesome. A little upset that they
made her more of Batman's villain, but it worked.
The Robin set up at the end was a nice touch.
I think my favorite scene though was when Alfred went back to
Florence and saw Bruce with Selina. It was just the perfect
ending for Bruce.
Also, Anne Hathaway on the BatPod=Extremely sexy.
I honestly don't think that Nolan could have wrapped up his
trilogy any better. As of now, and probably in the future, it is
my favorite superhero movie.

I've yet to see the movie, but I don't like the sound of the
ending at all. The defining characteristic of Batman is that he
is Batman until he physically can no longer handle it, and even
then it's not 100% final. It just seems extremely out of
character for him to retire, especially with Selina, who also
never seemed like a character who would be able to settle down.
Also, I keep reading people on IMDb saying that it was ambiguous
whether Alfred saw them there at all or it was just a
hallucination or dream of some sort.

I am not capable of writing my thoughts of well enough at the
moment because I'm so excited and shaken by the film but I loved
it like I've never loved another film. Including TDK and every
Potter film. It left my breathless and stunned. I don't care if
my reaction makes me a fanboy or whatever but this is how I feel
right now. Best theater experience of my life.

MAJOR FUCKING SPOILERS AHEAD!!! It's aleady in the thread title
so don't say I didn't warn you.
My God. This was fucking awful. I don't even know what to say. I
just want to go to sleep.
The statue. The fucking statue. What the fuck was Nolan
thinking? Batman gets his back broken and gets fixed up by
getting punched in the spine and doing push-ups?
Every bit of Talia's last minute revelation was excruciating in
how retarded and pointless it was.
At certain points in this movie I was convinced Nolan had lost
his mind. I think this proves once and for all that third films
in superhero franchises are just cursed. Nolan had complete
control of this and it was still shit. I think this might be the
biggest let down of my life.
The Robin thing. Holy shit. That was like some fan fiction you'd
read on fucking Superherohype. Except it was actually filmed and
projected on a screen in front of hundreds of people.
Unbelievable.
This is going to get destroyed on repeat viewings. The plot of
this thing makes zero fucking sense. On any level.

I know that Batman is never supposed to retire until he can no
longer handle it, and in the movie he pretty much got to that
point. There is even a scene where a doctor describes his
physical condition and he is pretty much a complete mess. The
Selina thing makes a bit more sense when you watch the movie.
Obviously he does not actually marry her or w.e. in the comics,
but after he is betrayed by Talia in the movies it makes sense
that he would go with Selina.
Asterisk Abuser, I disagree. I think as far as third movies go
it was amazing. To me it made wayyy more sense than the Avengers
or even most of the Marvel movies that had been coming out. I
agree the statue was kinda stupid, but it was pretty realistic
that people would make one for Batman after what he did. Bruce's
back being broken also was a bit unconvincing, but it is also
adapted from comics and much weirder things happen in comics
than someone recovering from a broken back. I also thought that
the Talia reveal was pretty neat.
Also, In defense of the ending. It makes sense that Bruce moves
on from Batman. You could tell that he has always struggled in
his choice of being either a caped crusader or actually having a
life. I also think the ending is realistic because there is no
way that an actual middle-aged man would still be able to keep
up after taking all those injuries. Alfred also makes good
points to Bruce that he can't just allow himself to get killed
as a way out of being Batman. This prompted Bruce to allow
people to think that Bruce and Batman both died, which allowed
Bruce to move on and live in peace(well with Selina Kyle as your
partner I don't know how much of that he will get). He also
inspired someone else to pick up the torch. Was it cheesy that
they included Robin? Yes, but I think they did a better job at
giving Robin motivation to actually become Robin. Lastly, can
you really say that you don't want Bruce to have any resemblance
of peace and happiness? It's an adaption of the comics and I am
glad Nolan took his artistic liberties and settled on giving
Bruce a decent life.

Agreed. I remember the actress who played Young Talia spoiled it
a long time ago.

I felt that if you were not family with the first film you would
have been lost in this movie. Besides the whole Dent aspect it
seems as if Dark Knight never happened. I was not completely
blown away by TDKR. I don't know, maybe I need to see it again.
Yes, there were excellent parts but it was overly long and some
of the script was just plain bad.

It definitely had flaws. To me it was perfect. The movie was
everything I wanted it to be. Was it the best film ever? Of
course not. Like you said there were flaws. It was just the
perfect conclusion to the Nolan trilogy for me for a few
reasons. One, it came full circle with Batman Begins(which I
like more than The Dark Knight). Two, it gave Bruce the ending
that HE deserved. Three, Catwoman was dead sexy lol.

Since watched it only once whereas I've seen BB and TDK
countless times, I need more time to decide which one was best.
I think as of now TDKR is on par with TDK as the best superhero
movie ever made. The only problem I had was the ending but apart
from that it was a pretty solid effort.
