HTML http://www.hypable.com/2012/07/10/mockingjay-release-date/
Part 1: November 21, 2014
Part 2: November 20, 2015
Catching Fire will be released November 22, 2013
So the movies, barring the 1st one, will each be released almost
a year apart.
Wow, I'll be 22/23 when they're released...
Do you guys think the split is necessary? I don't mean to be all
"well they're copying from HP!!1" but ever since DH was split,
it seems like many other franchises followed suit (Twilight, The
Hobbit, Hunger Games...), especially when it's not necessary (ie
Breaking Dawn).

My friends are not happy about the split (I'm only on Book 1 so
I can't judge yet). They say that it's only a money grab, and
that there isn't enough substance in Mockingjay for it to be
split into two parts.

Minor correction: The Hobbit was actually announced as a split
before Deathly Hallows. But they were fairly close I believe,
now the others not so much

Hobbit deserves it if they're going to be adding whole new
plots. Mockingjay, I'm not quite sure. We'll see how it turns
out.

I could go either way on the Mockingjay split.
The obvious split would be
when Peeta comes back and attacks Katniss
And that would make for a very angsty movie. I'd rather that be
like the first Act or two of the movie and then move on from
there. Make it a bit longer and no one would care. Just montage
the shit out of it.
But then again, there is a lot that happens that they could
stretch out to make into two different movies.
I don't know. Like I said, I'm split. But I don't think its
really necessary. If Collins had lengthened the book to give
more explanation, stretch the plot, and let emotions ride out
like she should have, then this would definitely have been
justified.
And there's definitely a cornucopia Thanksgiving joke in there
somewhere...

I think it could be two movies. I lot is packed into the last
book, and I'd like for some of the details to not be glossed
over like they were in the book (especially Katniss' time in the
Capitol).
You could argue that Mockingjay needs a second movie more so
than DH really did.

It needs a second movie to fill in the blanks the author left
out because she's awful at pacing a story.
Whereas DH had such an intricate plot it would have been
incredibly difficult to satisfyingly dismantle it.
In my opinion.
But then again, I haven't read Mockingjay in over a year so I
could just be forgetting things.

Yikes it seems so far away :D I will also be 22/23.
I still don't know how I feel about the split. I didn't really
want it but I remember the argument of another thread here that
said there was a lot going on. I'm still on my way to re-read
the series. I was supposed to start re-reading CF like 5 months
ago.
Oh well, it's already happening. So we will wait and see how it
turns out.
