The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century
By: The-Peake Date: June 18, 2012, 12:40 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone been following the latest League arc? It has them
basically trying to prevent the birth of the Anti-Christ, and
begins in 1910, then we find them in 1969, and ends in 2009. In
1969 (can't remember if I already posted about this or not) a
character named Tom, whose second name is a Marvel and whose
surname is a Conundrum (Tom Marvolo Riddle, anyone?) meets Mina
Murray,
sexually assults her as she battles on the
astral plain, and is then possessed by the arc's Big Bad, who
then has him go to King's Cross and dissappear at Platform 9 and
3/4s (off to Hogwarts, obviously). Early word on the
just-released 2009 has it that Harry is the same Antichrist the
League have been trying to ward off, appearing deranged and
psychotic, the student of Riddle whom is still possessed. At one
point he shoots lightning at someone from his peen...
Not sure how I feel about all this. I'm interested to read this,
but the series has defo gone downhill over this latest
storyline, and even though the earlier stories could be violent
or sexually explicit, this seems different, it's
more...unpleasant. Not too mention the probability of a beloved
childhood character being completely debased in the latest
comic, sigh. I feel Moore is going a bit like Mark Millar, shock
over story. If this thread gets enough interest, I'll keep you
guys posted once I get the 2009 issue.

Haven't been keeping track of it since I thought LEG 1910 was
terrible but it feels like Moore's dependance on shock value has
grown exponentially since Lost Girls.
