s?

Do you think a TV series adaption of LOTR or any of the other
stories from Middle Earth would work?

I don't see the point of that, when the gold standard has pretty
much already been set.

I'm not just talking about LOTR though, they still have a lot of
material that could be made. Eh I'm just missing not being able
to watch Lord of the Rings when I am sick.

If Game of Thrones is anything to go by, then big budget fantasy
series can be done as a TV series respectably, you'd just need
to lower your expectations on big battle scenes, which probably
wouldn't work as well for the LOTR series as it does for GoT,
since the latter is more character focused and I think LOTR is
more event focused.
I definitely wouldn't see them remaking the Peter Jackson movies
as a TV series, that would be completely pointless IMO.
Why can't you watch it when you're sick anymore? Just because
you've seen it too many times?

No I am still in Italy and won't be able to watch my blu-ray
directors editions for another week...Not fun because normally
when I am sick I go on movie watching marathons(Lord of The
Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc).
I was mainly thinking about the other material from Middle
Earth. They do have a lot of material and they definitely could
do something with it. I guess it just depends on whether or not
Christopher Tolkien wants to give the rights away.

I've only read The Hobbit and The LOTR books, is any of the
other stuff worth reading? Particularly if I found LOTR awful as
novels?

Remaking LOTR as a series would be pointless. The movies were
great and I felt they were better than the books.
Although, The Silmarillion could make a good mini-series.

The first chapter of Fellowship alone would be one season.

There is no way in hell the Silmarillion could be a mini-series.
That book is massive, it's on a scope that makes LOTR look
humble.
