Gary Ross officially out

Am I the only one okay with this? I'd love to see another
director take a shot at the franchise. Ross did great in terms
of casting and setting the bar way high. But the skakey cam
bugged me out as did the pacing and constant close ups.
I've seen Alfonso Cuaron's name thrown around in more than one
place. If he took on Catching Fire I'd be behind that 100%. But
I realize those are just silly rumors.

I'm completely fine with this, he did a great job, but I agree
the series could only improve without the excess use of shaky
cam and extreme close-ups.
I do think they should have a bit of shaky cam in the action
sequences, but not nearly as much as Ross obviously thought
necessary.
There are other ways they can get around the issue of not
showing excess violence without shaking the camera around so
much its all near incomprehensible.

What about Marc Webb?
I don't know if he'd do it considering Spiderman is going to be
huge and is coming out soon but he's not doing anything except
executive producing a television show. He could still do
Catching Fire. I think he'd be an awesome choice, I'd love to
see that adaptation... a bit more stylized.

Like I said before, I like Ross but he's not so distinctive a
director that the vision or quality will be lost if he leaves.
I'm curious to see who lands it.

I just think it's funny how the news comes after Hutcherson
confidently stated that Ross would come back to direct, and this
happens.

Agreed. I'm also looking forward to see a new style and
direction for Catching Fire.
