From someone who hasn't read the book

I really enjoyed the film. It was a bit long, and it took a
while to get to the Games, but it was a great movie where I
could just sit back and suspend disbelief.
I liked the outlandish costumes/makeup.
Rue's
death reminded me of Dobby's.
Too much shaky cam. (The first five minutes I was like, "Ok, we
get it!")
Didn't catch a lot of character names or anything. Where does
this take place? Why do some people get to live in the Capitol
and others live in the districts?
I loved that TV show host/guy with the blue hair, and that one
crazy lady (Effie?) there was someone in the theatre dressed
like her...and that one guy with the awesome beard. I'm
interested in his character/motivations.
Were they really able to manipulate the Games? Like the fire and
the dogs? I didn't really like that.
(I realize a lot of these questions can be answered by reading
the books, just thought I'd put my thoughts down)
It makes me really interested to read the books. I want to know
more about the characters because I didn't really feel close to
them in this.
There was a Breaking Dawn part 2 trailer before it. I laughed
throughout the entire thing. I was the only one in the theatre
that did so, except at the end when they showed Bella stalking
the deer.

Good that you liked it! Yeah, there was definitely a good bit of
character development missing

I snorted at this part. No joke

A lot of people in my theater groaned and laughed. And then
everyone applauded for Spiderman. And there was also a
commercial for that Kirk Cameron special and someone yelled,
"Fuck you Kirk Cameron" which also led to applause. I was in a
good theater.
And yeah, reading the book would answer some of those questions,
but it really doesn't go into THAT much more detail (except for
the more insight you would get behind Katniss's
motivations/emotions, etc).

I don't really see how Kirk Cameron is the hateful person in
this situation.

Fairly recently he said a lot of homophobic stuff. That being
homosexual is unnatural and a threat to civilization. That's
some pretty hateful words.

Just wanted to say, the reason they manipulate the games is
because otherwise, you get to the point where everyone just
hides in their area and doesn't actively seek anyone else out.
You have to remember, this is being televised, and just watching
people hiding and eating for days or weeks on end is incredibly
boring television.

I know what he said, (and he backed it up by saying that
everyone has their convictions and his are based on his faith)
but he was specifically asked what his opinion was on
homosexuality and he gave it. Would people have preferred he
didn't answer or lie? (Honest question from me).
I just don't see how it's wrong for Kirk Cameron to be hateful
but it's ok to hate him for it.
I also don't believe he was being hateful. I think there was a
more tactful way to put his statements, like "I believe that
homosexuality goes against the Bible, therefore I think it's
wrong" but he said he was caught off guard by the question. A
lot of people don't agree with him but that doesn't make him
hateful, he said that because of his beliefs he thinks that what
their doing is wrong. Would I be hateful if, because of my
beliefs, I said that I think people who sleep around are in the
wrong? Do I hate them? No, but I don't think that what their
doing is ok
Sorry Mufasa, for the OT-ness
