Star Wars 'What If'

What if they never decided to have the "I am your father twist"?

Uuuh... then it would have made the prequels totally unnecessary
and would have made the climax of the OT sort of less emotional.
What if Padme had lived after giving birth to Luke and Leia?

The twist worked out pretty well. It only changed little things
within the original. Like Obi not recognizing R2 or C3PO.
I think that if Padme lived, than she and Obi would have raised
the children together in a remote location. Obi would also have
trained Luke from birth.

Then they should have gone with the traditional
'You-killed-my-parents-I-want-revenge' route for Luke.
How about a ending where only Leia was Vader's daughter and
after his death takes up the Sith mantle?

There was a cracked article last week (maybe) where one of the
columnists talked about how he would have done the prequels and
I thought it was interesting:
Basically he would have eliminated all the silly cameos by OT
characters like Chewbacca, C3PO, and R2D2 (although I call
shenanigans on the last two because they are the glue that
bridges the series). Anyway, he would have done away with much
of the Trade Federation story line (at least the emphasis on it)
and he would have eliminated Qui Gon and had Anakin and Obi Wan
start out as partners rather than master and apprentice.
Palpatine is still a Sith Lord hell bent on taking over the
galaxy but there isn't any medichlorian business and Anakin's
backstory is irrelevant, he was just a jedi selected like any
other. So he would have still had the Clone Wars and just spent
the first two or so movies building up Anakin and Obi Wan's
friendship as this ass-kicking, light saber wielding duo. Then
he would still have had Anakin fall in love with Padme only Obi
Wan is secretly resentful and harbors feelings for her. The
final movie would have dealt with a growing rift between Anakin
and Obi Wan due to this jealousy. Anakin and Padme are still
married and she is pregnant but Obi Wan makes a pass at her/or
sleeps with her and this causes Anakin to betray Obi Wan and the
Jedi Order and just go crazy. The author's perspective is
certainly interesting and he argues that it would have made the
fight on Mustafar more emotional.
I don't know if I agree with a scenario where Obi Wan cheats
with Padme because I think it's really out of character for both
of them, but I like that his version builds up a better
relationship between Anakin and Obi Wan.
... Anyway,
Obi Wan never explicitly states that he doesn't know R2 or 3PO.
Luke says something about R2 saying he once belonged to an Obi
Wan Kenobi, and Obi Wan says "funny I don't recall ever owning a
droid" - which is true, Obi Wan never owned a droid. I think
revealing who created 3PO and who R2 really belonged to would
have revealed to much to Luke too early. I mean, R2 is strictly
Anakin's but 3PO (created by Anakin) was a gift to Padme for
their wedding. It would have revealed not only Luke's connection
to Vader but possibly his connection to Leia as well. In the
expanded universe it's stated that Leia did have an inkling of
who her mother was because there is a large painting of her in
the palace at Alderaan, so she knows that's her mother and that
her mother was involved in politics but she doesn't know her
name. That's how Lucas sidestepped the "oh I remember my mother
she was beautiful but sad" line that Leia has, although another
theory is that Leia is force sensitive and interpreted Padme's
feelings as an infant.
I like the familial twist Lucas throws in. I don't know if it
was necessary to have Leia as a sister. I think originally when
it was envisioned as a nine part series, Leia was simply Leia,
and Luke actually met his sister in episodes 7-8-9. I like that
Luke saves Vader because he senses the good in him, I don't
think that works without the connection because why the hell
would Luke even care? The Emperor is evil, Vader is just a dude
that's fear, loss, and then anger turned him to the dark side.
Luke recognizes that as Padme did.
We should have a Star Wars section... right? right?

Yes for Star Wars section. I wonder if there will be some more
live action movies. I think my favorite Jedi will always be Obi.
Yeah the Cracked guys version would be a bit overly dramatic.
Plus it would be extremely out of character.

Obi Wan is a weird Jedi for me. He's wise but he lacks a lot of
fighting skills, I'll take Mace Windu because he just seems like
he'll f'ck you up.
I'm sure Lucas will find some excuse to make more live action
movies. My guess would be that he'd set the movies during the
rise and fall of the Sith.

Obi is a capable fighter, but he definitely isn't strong as
some. He handled Anakin pretty well, aside from when he allowed
himself to die. Windu just don't give a f'ck, he's like honey
badger he just take what he wants.

Dude's got a purple lightsaber and in AOTC he just shows up and
is all "this party's over". He's like Shaft, but a Jedi.

Guess it helps when Samuel L Jackson is portraying him. He was
kinda slow though. He could have finished the Sith and possibly
Anakin, but he kinda just derped.
