The battle for Minas Tirith is still THE most epic and emotional
battle scene

So, I'm in complete Lord of the Rings mode now, after watching
the extended editions of the three movies in the past three
nights.
I just have to say I now firmly believe the movies are f'cking
perfection even with the ridiculous movie lengths, and they have
now rose to become my favourite movies of all-time, although
they take so much out of me to watch, it's all worth it.
For the first time I felt every emotion while watching the
Return of the King and was just overwhelmed and amazed at how
epic and incredible the entire Minas Tirith and Pelennor Fields
battles are to watch, and I really have no idea how any other
film will be able to top it.
I'm not even embarassed to say that, I teared up very slightly
at some moments of each films, something I've never done before.
I'm now watching through all the special features, which I've
never done before, save for a very small few of the
documentaries. The sheer amount of really interesting and well
put together stuff on here is just brilliant and I wish more
films gave this much special features and insight into the
amount of work put into the films.

I have such a deep love and emotional attachment to these
movies. It's probably very unhealthy! And I do agree that the
Seige of Gondor-Battle of Pelennor fields is very emotional.
Gandalf and Pippin talking about death always gets to me, as
does Theoden's passing and (in the Extended Edition) Eomer
finding Eowyn in the aftermath. However, I think the final
battle at the Black Gate is the most emotional moment of the
movies by far! Aragorn taking his rightful place, all of our
heroes running straight into what looks like certain death, and
Frodo and Sam desperately trying to make the last leg of their
journey...it's f'cking heartbreaking. "Into the West" is
actually one of my favorite songs of all time because of these
scenes. These films are the epitome of epic and you end up
truly feeling like you've journeyed with these characters.
And I love the special features! The amount of work, time, and
dedication that went into making these movies is astounding and
really shows on-screen in the finished products.

Agreed. It really opens your eyes to how much work that went
into Lord of the Rings. The extended versions are brilliant.

So much unbelievable works. All the model-makers,
costume-makers, and even guys who spent day in and day out
making just chain mail!
