Good for him! :) So glad to see it went to an HP star and not a
Twilight star.

Awesome. Honestly, Dan deserves it. He's such a dedicated
person and hard worker. And he actually takes acting seriously,
without taking himself too seriously. Plus, he's now been
successful on screen and stage! Go Dan!

I don't consider myself a Radcliffe fan and honestly I doubt I
follow him too much in the future. But he deserves this. Bravo.

Good for him! I'm not sure I really buy into him be THE
entertainer of the year, but I'm hard pressed to find someone
that did more.

It's funny, but yesterday I got on Box Office Mojo out of
boredom and looked at the top 2011 movies at the box office. DH2
had about $380 million in the U.S. alone (it's like $1.3 billion
globally). The next-highest film was Transformers 3 with like
$350 million. The third-highest film is The Hangover 2, with
"only" $250 million. Breaking Dawn will probably move into the
#3 spot, but even that will only be maybe $280 million-$295
million. So Radcliffe was the star of the decisive 2011
highest-grossing film, which will probably get at least some
Oscars attention, plus he had the lead role in a huge Broadway
revival and all the side interviews and promotions and what-not
related to Potter.
So considering all of that, I think he probably is the
Entertainer of the Year. The only other person I can think of
who may have had a convincing argument is maybe Adele.

So Gary Oldman wrote a little thing about Dan for EW (which I
thought was cute):
I first met Dan when he was 13 going on 14 — or 13 going
on 50, really. He was a brilliant boy, way beyond his years. He
was focused, committed, and hard-working, and he had an
absolutely killer sense of humor. He wasn’t just some little kid
who got a lucky break and was messing about.
Dan dares to get up on the high wire. There’s risk involved in
the work he’s choosing. I can’t think of many 17-year-olds who
would expose themselves - and I don’t mean just in the physical
sense - and risk everything by going on stage and doing Equus,
as Dan did a while back.
What I admire most about him is that he doesn’t rest on his
laurels. He doesn’t think the world owes him because he’s played
Harry Potter. He took lessons and learned to dance and sing,
because he knew that once Potter was over, he would be swimming
in the stream with all the other salmon. I was sad to see Potter
go, but happy, too. It was not goodbye. Dan is going to continue
to work and mature and develop his skills. And, I think,
continue to dazzle.
That makes me believe that he is the right person for the title.
