Was anyone seriously surprised at the Sam was going to be that
       dog?

I had it figured out very early, but was wondering if it was as
       obvious as I thought.
I finished Season 1 and was kinda disapointed with the
lackluster way the finale went, but I am intrigued at what that
woman who has taken in Tara and knows Sam is all about. I'll
       probably start Season 2 soon.

Yeah, the penultimate episode is usually more of a season finale
for True Blood. The main antagonist is usually disposed of
halfway through the last episode, and then they start setting up
plots/cliffhangers for the next season. The Maryann thing is
definitely really good! Season 2 is probably still my favorite!
